Scarecrow Decorating and GO Show Fall Festival
By: Brecksville & Broadview Heights ChambersDate: 08/12/2008 A drive through ‘Booville’ (Brecksville) and ‘Haunted Heights’ (Broadview Heights) in September and October 2008 will bring on the ‘ooohs’ and ‘aaahs’ that come with fall color, but not just because of the changing leaves!
This year, our South Suburbs are cementing their Halloween notoriety with the October 12th South Suburban GO Show Fall Festival and the goal of a scarecrow display in front of every home, building and store front. To dress our South Suburbs for fall, the GO Show will be promoting and rewarding top notch prizes to residents and businesses for the best fall scarecrow displays in Booville and Halloween Heights.
And prizes won’t be limited to scarecrow decorating! The GO Show, held from 11 am – 4 pm on October 12, 2008 at the Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School and kicked off with a Band Boosters Pancake Breakfast, will also be hosting costume and pumpkin carving contests at the show, where the top area scarecrow decorators will receive their awards.
Local businesses are enthusiastic about having this opportunity to display their goods and services to thousands of area residents. “I can’t wait to dress up and pass out candy”, said one of this year’s early exhibitors. That’s right, there will be trick-or-treating at the booths!
“We had enthusiastic support when we began handing out the flyers at our fall themed booth at this year’s Home Days and expect to have a fantastic show this year with the fun Fall Festival Events that will bring the businesses and community together”, says Mike Gorman, president of the Brecksville Chamber of Commerce.
Local businesses are also stepping up to sponsor the Go Show and support the Fall Festival. Current sponsors include the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center, Firefighter’s Community Credit Union, Tutoring Club, Town Money Saver, Western Reserve Bank, and Valpak. For sponsorship information please contact Jeri Vespoli at (440) 546-1676.
“Each year, we’ll need to revitalize our business and community event to bring value to our area. With the overwhelming interest in “Bob” the Chamber Scarecrow at our Broadview Heights Summer Fest, we are sure the community will come out in force in support of the GO Show Fall Festival of local businesses and fun fall events”, says Tom Craft, President of the Broadview Heights Chamber of Commerce.
If you would like to get involved, volunteers are always welcome. For more information on exhibiting, sponsoring, volunteering, donating prizes to or otherwise participating in the South Suburban GO Show Fall Festival ’08, please visit www.ssgoshow.com.
