Labor Day is just around the corner, which means it’s almost time to put the white shoes and sandals away. But before they go back on the top shelf of the closet, give them one last stroll around historic downtown Hudson during the Taste of Hudson—one of the region’s premiere outdoor festivals.
Now in its fourth year, the Taste features more activities and attractions representing the true spirit of the Hudson area than ever before. This spectacular outdoor lifestyle festival includes entertainment, activities and enough food to suit everyone’s tastes—including a variety of selections from local restaurants.
While you’re there, enjoy magnificent fine art displays, the all-new Wine & Beer Tasting Garden, cooking demonstrations, classic and antique autos, a large selection of children’s activities, health screenings, and a number of unique exhibitors and vendors sprinkled throughout the First and Main area and on the city greens.
Interested in learning more about wine and beer? Join the fun in the Wine & Beer Tasting Garden, held on the beautiful back patio of the Hudson Library and Historical Society, which is located on Library Street and Village Way in the First and Main retail district.
Sip, swirl and learn as you savor wines from around the globe, including California, France, Australia, Italy, Argentina and more. The Wine & Beer Tasting Garden will offer live music, gourmet foods, 25 regional micro beers and 100 wines to choose from. A WSET Wine Captain, from the Cleveland Wine School, will staff each wine table.
If it’s beer you prefer, you’ll enjoy sampling the wide selection of craft beer and micro-brews from across the United States and around the world.
During the wine and beer tasting, enjoy fabulous gourmet appetizers prepared by Chef Andrew Jackson of Laurel Lake, and groove to a wide variety of live music and learn from the pros at the special side-stage wine seminars.
“Taste of Hudson has become a regional draw because it offers so many activities and fun for an entire family,” says Andy Malitz, executive director for the festival. “Plus, the food is out of this world. The activities and entertainment for children are going to be spectacular, too.”
The Leadership Hudson Class founded the Taste of Hudson in 2004 as a community service project. It’s since become one of the biggest, most successful events ever held in Hudson, drawing over 25,000 patrons. In its first three years, the Taste has donated $70,000 to various local charities, including Safe Kids Coalition of Summit County and Leadership Hudson. The Safe Kids Coalition assists a number of organizations that promote and implement strategies to prevent childhood injuries through community awareness.
