Filling a void in women’s healthcare services, Synergy Physical Therapy & Wellness addresses conditions that disproportionately affect women. We treat women during every stage of life, from young athletes and women who’ve given birth to those experiencing menopause and advanced age. We can provide an effective alternative to surgery and medications.

Q: What are some conditions that affect women more than men?

A: Fibromyalgia, knee and back pain, osteoporosis, incontinence and TMJ disorder.

When addressing any of these conditions, we treat the whole person. For instance, when TMJ disorder causes jaw pain, it usually means something else is going on in the body. Something seemingly unrelated, such as a pelvis that is out of alignment, can affect what is going on up the chain into the jaw muscles.

Q: How can physical therapy help with incontinence?

A: Most people do not realize that physical therapy is the first line of defense when it comes to incontinence. Taking a holistic approach, we determine how the pelvic floor muscles have become weak and develop an individualized plan to strengthen those muscles.

Whether you suffer from stress incontinence that makes you leak urine when coughing, laughing or jumping, or have issues with frequency, urgency or nocturia, there are many ways to treat incontinence. We are constantly debunking the myth that just because something is common does not mean it is normal.

Q: What techniques do physical therapists use?

A: We use our hands to integrate manual therapy into physical therapy sessions. We also use dry needling and biofeedback as tools to help resolve any issues, and we treat the whole you to improve your physical, mental and emotional well-being.
