Prosthodontists specialize in cosmetic dentistry and can do a complete smile makeover.

As one of only a handful of prosthodontists in Northeast Ohio, I am specially trained to handle complex dental conditions. I get many referrals from oral surgeons, and have patients who seek me out after having unsuccessful procedures elsewhere—whether dentures that do not properly fit or failed implants.

Many are not familiar with my specialty, so here are answers to some frequently asked questions.

Q: What is the role of a prosthodontist?
A: Specializing in treating dental issues that involve restoring missing teeth, a prosthodontist is a dentist who has completed four years of dental school, plus three additional years of advanced training. A prosthodontist is highly trained in cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, TMJ disorders and more.

Q: How does a prosthodontist differ from a dentist?
A: Prosthodontists also specialize in cosmetic dentistry and can do a complete smile makeover.

Q: Can a prosthodontist also do general dentistry?
A: In addition to restoring teeth, I do everything else a general dentist does. I take a hands-on approach to all facets of dentistry, as I do all of the cleaning, brushing and flossing myself during the dental exam.

As a family dentistry practice, I handle routine dental checkups and other preventive dental treatments. However, if more complex cases arise, I can treat my patients here without the need for them to go to another specialist. It is a convenient continuum of care.
