Anyone who has experienced acupuncture will tell you there’s nothing to fear. It’s practically painless, feeling similar to a tiny mosquito bite.

Acupuncture is one of many services at Vivify Wellness at Avenues that allow people to reduce stress and anxiety, as well as curb addictions.

“Our acupuncture specialist uses the NADA technique, which involves stimulating five specific points on each ear by inserting thin metal needles,” says Vivify founder Lisa M. Borchert, M.A. Ed., LPCC. “The Sympathetic Autonomic Point and Shen Men are included for their calming effect, and the three other points because they represent the body’s principal cleansing organs.”

She states this technique has been used for many years to reduce anxiety and stress, improve sleep, provide relief from frustration, anger, fear, and grief, as well as reduce food and substance cravings.Acupuncture is now widely accepted among the medical community and research into acupuncture as a medical treatment has grown exponentially over the past 20 years. The practice has been shown to reduce pain and encourage the body to release endorphins, otherwise known as the body’s own “feel-good” chemicals.

“If you’re deciding if acupuncture is right for you, this may be a good option to consider, as it’s an affordable, quick, semi-private group session,” Lisa says. “It’s always good to note, however, that acupuncture should be part of a comprehensive approach to solving health problems.”

In addition to acupuncture, Vivify offers a host of wellness treatments, including private and semi-private yoga, massage, infrared sauna, a salt room, reiki and NeurOptimal brain training.

Vivify Wellness at Avenues is located within Ghent Square at 843 N. Cleveland-Massillon Road in Fairlawn. Community acupuncture sessions are offered on Tuesday evenings. Call 330-576-4144, or visit VivifyWellnessatAvenues.com for more information.
