Most insurance carriers offering Medicare make tweaks to their plans every year. “This year in particular, there is a lot of competition for business,” says Scott McEvoy, a licensed insurance agent with HealthMarkets Insurance Agency. “Carriers have really beefed up their offerings, making some Medicare plans more attractive than ever before.”

What’s the best way to find out which Medicare plan is right for you? During Annual Enrollment, happening Thursday, October 15, and ending on Monday, December 7, you can schedule a time to meet with Scott to review your options—free of charge. Scott can perform a free FitScore analysis.

“HealthMarkets’ FitScore is a quick, easy way to maximize your Medicare benefits and save money. After answering a few short questions, I can use our proprietary software to search thousands of plans from leading insurance companies to provide a customized list of the right options for you. The higher the FitScore, the closer the plan is to your ideal match,” Scott says. “Like everything we offer, a FitScore provides an unbiased view of which plan might be the best match for you.”

But it’s important to note that a plan matched to your neighbor may not be the right plan for you. “Everyone has a different set of needs, a different list of doctors and prescriptions, and a different budget,” he explains. “You don’t choose a Medicare plan based on what someone you know has. Your choice should be based on your unique circumstances.”

Because so many carriers are competing for business, Scott says now is an ideal time to get a review. “You might end up deciding to stay with the plan you’ve already got, but there are so many attractive incentives that have been added to a number of plans, it just makes sense to find out if you could get better coverage and pay less,” he notes.

Scott not only spends hours learning about the changes happening with all of the Medicare plans HealthMarkets has access to, he’s also certified by the carriers he represents and can help to guide people in the direction that makes the most sense for their lives, their locations and their budgets.

“Nothing stays the same,” Scott reasons. “You evolve, your healthcare plan evolves, or both evolve. If you don’t know what’s out there, how do you know if you’re really in good shape?”

A Medicare review for annual enrollment takes about 30 minutes and costs you nothing. Medicare supplements can be reviewed and changed year-round. This is also the time of year when changes to prescription coverage must be made.

“My guidance is always free of charge,” Scott states. “If you aren’t sure where you stand, it’s all the more reason to come in for a review.”

“My goal is to make people comfortable with the process,” he continues. “Understanding Medicare can be overwhelming. I make it a point to inform you, not alarm you, by providing clear and concise information so that you can make the choice that’s best for you.”
