Did you know there are more than 18 million healthcare workers in the United States? And that according to the Centers for Disease Control, they are at high risk for musculoskeletal injuries due to on-the-job injuries?

The team of doctors at Whole Body Health in Medina wants to help them, specifically nurses (RNs and LPNs), respiratory therapists, phlebotomists, radiology technicians and STNAs.

“We know chiropractic care as well as our functional medicine program can not only treat damage done from previous injuries, but we can also help prevent future injuries and damage to the body,” says Dr. Matt Marr, a doctor at the clinic.

Healthcare workers are often injured moving their patients from bed to bed, repositioning patients in their beds, helping them up from a seated position and more. Those are just some examples of the external forces that can wear the body down.

Of course, through all of this, healthcare professionals also put themselves at risk for injury by maneuvering in awkward positions that do not allow them to use proper lifting techniques, and that’s in addition to the stress of the job and how it has a negative effect on the body.

“If you happen to see a nurse with a moment to catch his or her breath, you likely see them rubbing their back or neck, maybe rolling their shoulders around or flexing and extending their knees, just trying to keep the ache away until the end of their shift,” Dr. Matt says.
