As much as winter wreaks havoc on the exterior world—destroying our roads and damaging our landscaping—it also takes its toll on the interior of our homes. After all, we’re stuck inside from December to March as our living spaces suffer a slow build-up of dust, grease, grime, mud, salt, pet hair, cobwebs, illness-spreading bacteria, and more.

Take a good look at your back door, the face of your kitchen cabinets, your light fixtures, the top of your refrigerator, your bathroom baseboards, your window sills.

“Everyone’s floors are super gross right now because of all the freezing and thawing this winter,” reveals Erin Schultz, the office manager for the Cuyahoga Falls-based Heavenly Touch Maids. “There is a lot of salt and mud, so we’re paying particular attention to floors right now.”

The “Mini-Spring Cleaning”
You could dedicate a couple of precious weekends of family time to do your own spring cleaning and achieve amateur results, or you could call Erin at Heavenly Touch. It’s an 11-year-old company employing over 30 professionally-trained maids who have cleaned thousands of Greater Akron homes. While many clients opt for weekly or bi-weekly cleanings, the firm also offers an affordable yet intensive and meticulous deep cleaning known as “The Mini-Spring Cleaning.”

“Our Mini-Spring Cleaning is similar to our Full Spring Cleaning except we don’t scrub the walls,” explains Erin, who will likely be the one to answer the phone when you call. “We clean virtually everything else—from kitchen cabinets and appliances to furniture, wall art and shelving, to toilets, showers and baseboards. We can even do interior window cleaning.”

Teams of Two
Heavenly Touch Maids arrive in teams of two, including a team leader who oversees the job. The pair divides and conquers so they can do a professional job without being in your home all day. Working in teams also allows furniture to be moved safely. Really, when was the last time you vacuumed under your sofa?

“Our employees undergo a comprehensive training program, including how to properly dust and vacuum,” says owner Rick Winrod. “Plus, we have weekly refresher training so we stay on top of the industry.”

Unlike other companies that pay maids a percentage of the job, Heavenly Touch offers a competitive hourly wage so there is no incentive to rush. “Our teams are professional, diligent and flexible,” adds Erin. “We can handle your weekly cleaning, plus pay special attention to areas that you request.”

And, Erin says, they can even handle “emergencies.”

“I’m not talking about a backed-up sewer,” she clarifies. “I mean if you suddenly find out that your mother-in-law is coming over this weekend.”

Post-illness cleanings are also a good idea. Some bacteria—like those that cause strep throat and ear infections—can live outside of the body for long periods of time.

Doing the Job Right
According to Erin, most Heavenly Touch clients are people who value family time. They don’t want to spend their weekends cleaning. “It can be really, really frustrating when your house is never clean and you always seem to be playing catch-up,” Erin says.

The Heavenly Touch Maids staff has long-term tenure and gets rave reviews. “All day long I get text messages complimenting the work we do,” Erin smiles. “Our clients are very happy with us. As a result, we get a lot of customer referrals and word-of-mouth is our biggest source of new clients.”

When you call Heavenly Touch Maids, Erin will likely ask you questions like this: Are you a pet owner? What kind of floors do you have? How many people live in your home? Do you have window blinds? Do you want your windows washed? In addition, you’ll receive an email featuring certification of the company’s insurance policies plus a complete list of services performed on a first-time cleaning.

Rick concludes: “It’s like our slogan says, ‘Your time is precious…our time is affordable.’”
