Home Appliance’s service fleet is now up to five vehicles, with more planned for 2018. By treating customers exceptionally well, the company’s growth has been a remarkable success story.

I have a good friend who is a passionate do-it-yourselfer. Recently, he mentioned that he needed a dishwasher. I recommended that he consider shopping at Home Appliance Sales and Service because the prices can make the average box store employee blush.

From recent experience, I can also attest that the installation process is seamless, from no-hassle scheduling to a polite and fuss-free install. (Kudos to Kimberlee who coordinates the store’s busy installation schedule.) This makes recommending them easy.

To Install or...
Hearing this, my friend was sold. He stopped in to just “look around” and spoke with Sandy, who has 11 years of experience in the sales department. He made sure he called me later that day to tell me how thrilled he was with the experience he’d had.

When I spoke with him a few days later, I asked how his new dishwasher was operating. He got very quiet, then confessed that the DIY enthusiast in him had insisted he do the installation and his proud new purchase was in limbo.

“The old dishwasher was from the previous owner. The electrical was hard wired in, as well as the plumbing. It took me the better part of a day just to get the old one out and I got too frustrated to finish the job,” he said.

“So, no Home Appliance Sales and Service installation?” I asked him.

“I called them back Monday morning and they got me right on the installation schedule,” he remarked. “In fact, they’re coming tomorrow.”

His voice was filled with the gleeful relief of a man who had come face to face with a household insurrection and was now on the road to peace and happiness.

Embracing Technology
“Technology is playing a serious role in changing the appliance industry,” said Shaun Vahl, who is the service manager for Home Appliance.

Shaun joined the company in 1999 and has seen much of the technical evolution of the industry. Shaun began with the company as a delivery driver. On the days Shaun finished his deliveries early, he would help Brian Grayson with customer repairs. Brian founded the company first as an appliance repair company before he began selling appliances.

“I came to really enjoy the challenge and rewards of repairing appliances and helping people who were lost without these necessary devices,” Shaun said.

“I remember when I began going out on service calls alone. People would always ask, ‘Where’s Brian?’ It became my goal to be every bit as appreciated by our clientele as Brian is.”

Over the years, Home Appliance has seen appliances integrate circuit boards, then computers and now the internet either directly or through Wi-Fi. This has necessitated more training for the team each year, but there has also been a great benefit to customers.

“Previously we had to make costly and time-consuming circuit board replacements,” Shaun said. “Today, the latest appliances allow us to diagnose and correct problems via the internet.”

Ready to Help
Recently a good customer called late in the day with a washing machine breakdown. It was over the holidays and you can imagine the panic. Shaun was just finishing up for the day when he took the call.

Yep, he went on the repair instead of calling it a day.
