Tamer Construction didn’t invent the kitchen remodel, they reinvented it

On March 1, Tamer Construction’s showroom—Cabinets & Designs of Ohio—celebrated its sixth anniversary by introducing a new kitchen to its group of to-die-for design-forward vignettes.

“This kitchen features a lot of the trends we are seeing right now,” says John Tamer, who has more than 30 years in the industry. “And our customers are already loving it and using it as a baseboard for ideas they want in their own dream kitchen.”

For instance, the kitchen features a mix of cabinetry—an off-white on top called Polar White and a green/gray/brown amalgam on the bottom called Iron Ore.

“Mixing up the hardware, with knobs and handles, is also very big, as long as the finish is the same it adds visual appeal,” he says. “Brushed gold is having a moment both in hardware and light fixtures.”

The backsplash is in a universally complementary reflective white subway tile that will never go out of style.

“People are loving transitional looks, blending elements of craftsman with earthy colors and clean lines with a dash of contemporary, adding an element like geodesic light fixtures,” says John. “Shades of gray are still popular, but we’re also seeing the color navy in sleek designs against a backdrop of whites and creams. Sherwin Williams’ 2020 Color of the Year—Naval—is a glamorous and bold shade that’s also calming and serene.”

The cabinetry Tamer Construction installs is loaded with functionality that lends homeowners a place for everything…built-in spice racks and bread boxes, corner space maximized by Lazy Susans and appliance garages.

Shop the Stunning New Quartz Styles
“We are excited that Cambria Quartz, one of our favorite countertop lines, has just unveiled its 20th anniversary top 20 designs,” he says. “These looks can inspire some beautiful rooms. Some of them include veining patterns shot through with gold, subtle grays and creams in marble looks, and several with navy and black for drama.”

Stop in the showroom to see samples of the new designs. Cambria is a Made-in-the-USA engineered stone product that’s made by pulverizing white quartz, then mixing it with binders and pigment. The resulting counters are actually stronger than granite or marble. The only thing that can scratch a piece of Cambria is another Cambria. And since it’s non-porous, it never has to be sealed.

Redrawing the Line
“To adapt an old phrase: It’s not the size of the kitchen in the space; it’s the size of the space in the kitchen,” says John, winner of numerous NARI NEO Contractor of the Year awards for his ingenious design and remodeling work. “People are always seeking to expand their kitchens, which have become more like living rooms for families nowadays. We often knock down walls and expand into adjacent rooms, but this isn’t always possible, so we’ve become adept at reconfiguring rooms to squeeze out space from where it didn’t exist before.”

Whether it’s kitchens, baths, home additions, basements or exterior work, clients sit with the designer in his or her command center and go over the CAD drawings on a large screen.
