Resolutions set you up for failure. Intention sets you up for success,” says Lisa Berardinelli, who, along with Gayle Prebis, owns The BARN, a fitness, wellness and, now, nutritional center located right in the heart of Hinckley.

In the year since it launched, The BARN, which stands for Breath, Awareness, Renew and Namaste, has become a one-stop shop for all things related to health and wellness. A comprehensive menu of fitness classes, including yoga, H.I.T.T., Pound, Barre, kettle bell, boot camp circuit training and Pilates, keeps members engaged.

Workshops and classes are offered to help relieve stress and stay centered, look for trauma stress release yoga, restorative yoga and community reiki.

And, now, a nutritional component makes it easy to understand how each of us interacts with food (the good ways and bad) then develop a personalized, livable plan for staying healthy, losing weight and keeping it off. (See sidebar below for details.)

“We offer everything people need to feed their mind, body and soul, all in one location,” says Gayle. “And, we’re a tremendous value.”

She’s not kidding. You can grab a Mimi deal (see sidebar below) and enjoy unlimited access to all of The BARN’s fitness classes for one month for just $30. After that, the cost for monthly unlimited classes for people on auto pay is just $90—and you can go to as many classes as you want. A complete schedule of classes is listed on the website, or you can download the MindBody app to view the same. Classes start at 5:15 a.m. and run until 7:15 p.m., with weekend classes available as well.

Moms and dads have no excuse not to get into shape. The BARN offers a yoga play class for kids that runs in tandem with regular yoga, so for just $4 per class your little one can be entertained while you tap into your inner om.

The BARN is centered on creating a welcoming environment. “Our members take an interest in each other,” Lisa shares. “They genuinely care about each other’s well-being and are remarkably supportive.”

With its roots planted in the community, The BARN is growing to also offer local products for sale. You’ll find things like natural soaps, granola and honey as well as fun and sporty BARN workout gear. Also available is Thai massage, an ancient modality that works with your body to heal on the physical and energetic levels.

Workshops are priced individually and are ideal for anyone interested in self-improvement. For example, Create the Life You Desire will be held on Saturday, January 26, at 2 p.m. For $33 you’ll learn how to set goals, get organized and practice creating the life you desire. You can register online under the “events” tab, which is where you’ll also find a complete list of other mindful gatherings.

The Barn Wellness Center is located at 1360 Ridge Road in Hinckley, just north of Route 303. The phone number is 330-636-0141. Visit the website at
