As you shake off your cocoon this month and emerge to reconnect with the great outdoors, ask yourself how much you love your yard. Do you want to invite friends and family over to enjoy it, too?

The team at Peters Professional Landscaping in Medina has been creating dynamic landscape designs, water features, patios, firepits and outdoor kitchens since 1992.

“Over the past few years, many of our clients have been telling us they’d much rather put their money into a beautiful outdoor living space to hang out with their friends than going out to restaurants or bars,” says Peters’ General Manager, Josh Riley.

From Dream to Reality
The team at Peters has the creative chops and design skills to open up a world of possibilities.

“As soon as April rolls around, people are calling us for design consultations on their landscape and to either build or add on to their existing outdoor living space,” says Josh.

“I sit down and listen to their situation, then suggest ways to cater to that—whether it’s strategically placing deer-resistant trees, shrubs and plants for privacy and extended color and bloom, or building a new patio with all the bells and whistles.”

Two top trends he says people are asking for include fire features (fireplaces, firepits, pizza ovens and smokers) and water features (fountains, koi pools and lily ponds).

“Once someone sees a cool firepit or restful fountain, they want to incorporate that into their exterior home,” he notes. “And outdoor lighting has come a long way as well, adding ambiance to the outdoor experience.”

He says televisions have also become elemental to outdoor living spaces, and that they specialize in building shelters for them to protect the flatscreen from the elements and ensure optimal viewing. Just as passion is Peters’ driving force, only working with the best materials is requisite. As an Authorized Unilock Contractor, Josh reports they offer a lifetime warranty on parts and a five-year warranty on labor.

As an extension of the living space, Peters also offers Weaver barn sheds in many styles, such as rustic and craftsman.

Making the Neighbors Green with Envy
The perfect backdrop for any yard is a lush green lawn, and Josh says there is a huge difference in turf that’s maintained by the homeowner and turf that’s professionally maintained.

“Even if you fertilize your lawn several times a year, you’re using a product that’s nowhere near as effective as the products we use,” he notes. “Plus, our technicians actually take ground samples to problem-solve and prescribe the perfect treatment to address your lawn’s unique condition and bring out its best.”

And to lend a fresh, finished look to any lawn and landscape, April and May are prime mulching months. Peters offers a wide array of colors and textures to best suit your home’s exterior.

Serving the Grillmaster
Last year, Peters introduced the Smoke-N-Hot line of portable grills.

“They are powered by clean-burning and renewable wood pellets, which save money yet still produce great-tasting meals,” he says.
