Dana Lauren Salon & Spa is hitting the refresh button this month to celebrate its 10th anniversary—refurbishing the décor and introducing new services and products.

Owned by the dynamic mother-daughter duo of Christine Castle and Dana Pollatos, the salon resembles a super stylish yet homey getaway for relaxation and rejuvenation.

“I think we’ve been so successful because of the laid-back atmosphere we’ve cultivated,” says Christine, who has been in the salon industry 44 years.

“What you will hear on any given day walking through the salon is laughter. Our team of stylists enjoys working together and takes pride in their profession and ability to make people feel welcome.”

Although the space is expansive, private alcoves for manis, pedis and spa rooms make it feel intimate and cozy. A calming décor of hardwood floors and a fresh color palette of creams and cocoas, accented by sleek leather furniture and low-lit lamps, lend a hip vibe. It’s the ideal venue for bridal parties or small groups.

Dana Lauren offers a full menu of beauty and wellness services, whether you want a simple haircut or color, mani or pedi, massage or facial, waxing or reflexology.

“The products we use in services or sell for at-home care are hand-picked for the results they produce,” says Dana. “We offer Wella Sebastian, Aquage, Brazilian Blowout (products and the service) as well as our organic line called Surface.”

Expanded Nail Studio and New Pedicure
To keep up with demand for their signature pedicures, the salon has expanded its Nail Studio with a new Pedicure Massage Throne.

“We’re also introducing a new vegan product line and deluxe pedicure from New York called Voesh,” says Christine.

“The four-step pedicure includes a sea salt soak, sugar scrub, mud masque and massage butter along with the polish. Not only that, we carry a large variety of up to 10 different fragrances including Ocean Refresh, Tangerine Twist and Lavender Relieve, to name a few. We keep the price low—$40—so anyone can enjoy a deluxe spa pedicure anytime.”

Five Levels of Pricing
Ongoing training is another factor that separates Dana Lauren from the others. Stylists undergo an intense apprenticeship program. And, in addition to attending shows throughout the Midwest, they also bring in national educators, including most recently Yomi and Stevie Smith from Sebastian Wella New York.

To correspond with the levels of training and experience for each stylist, there are five tiers of hair service pricing to fit every budget.

“Our stylists have every opportunity for growth here and they tend to stay with us for years,” says Christine. “Although many booth-rental operations are popping up, we stand by our values of offering uncompromising service and care to our clients.”

The ladies look back at 10 years at this location and 14 years in business and have one word for their loyal staff and clients: Thanks! They plan to show it in a big way at their Client Appreciation Party, which will be a cookout as soon as summer hits. “Like” their Facebook page to keep current on special events.
