Whack-a-Mole roids

For people suffering from hemorrhoids, being out and about all day is more of a burden than something enjoyable.

By Dr. David Gutman, Advanced Hemorrhoid Specialists

With the beautiful (and finally warm) weather here to stay, being out all day is a good thing. But for people suffering from hemorrhoids, the idea of being out all day is not.

Over time, hemorrhoidal tissue can get stretched and protrude through the anus, which means that while you’re out and about trying to enjoy everything that Mother Nature has to offer, your hemorrhoids are fighting to do the same.

But they come with side effects, like itching, bleeding, burning and the discomfort of feeling like something is “there.”

You can push your hemorrhoids back inside the rectum, but when you take your next bowel movement they’re going to want to come back out to be an annoying part of your day. It’s like playing Whack-a-Mole without winning prizes.

When hemorrhoids protrude, they can cause leakage and difficulty getting clean.

I offer two, non-surgical methods to treat hemorrhoids. One reduces the blood flow that feeds the hemorrhoids, improving inflammation and causing them to shrink. The other is better suited to removing larger hemorrhoids. Both take just a few seconds to do. Since they are performed in an area with no nerve endings, they can be administered right in the comfort of my office without anesthesia.

There is virtually no pain, no prep needed, there are no major restrictions, and you don’t have to take time off of work. Our procedures are also covered by insurance.
