It’s bound to happen eventually. Your attorney decides to scale back on his workload and start spending more time away from the office in preparation for retirement.

So, now what?

“I promised a lot of my clients that I wouldn’t simply go out of business when I was ready to retire,” says John J. Urban, an attorney who has concentrated in estate management since the mid ‘70s and who is now preparing for a transition into retirement.

For the last year-and-a-half, John has been grooming a husband and wife team of attorneys, Jay and Linda Nabors, to pick up where he leaves off.

“I made it a point to find people who could take the practice into the future,” John shares.

“I trust Jay and Linda to take care of the people who have put their trust in me for so long. For the foreseeable future I’ll still be involved, but I’ll take more of a back seat while they move to the forefront.”

John confirms what Linda and Jay say will be no interruption of client service and professionalism, however eventually the firm will take on a new name, Nabors & Nabors LTD.

John says that when he retires, all documents will be legally assigned to Jay and Linda.

“We’ve invested a great deal of time into making sure this transition goes as smoothly as possible for our clients,” John says.
