A forward-thinking modernization effort since Dr. Sanam Magrey opened Dental Care of Brunswick last year has resulted in advanced technologies being introduced to the patients of retired Dr. Robert Mandel.

“I’m quite pleased that we’ve kept all the patients from the former practice and welcomed many new ones,” she says. “Our staff is like family and we’ve enjoyed getting to know other families in the area.”

Taking Diagnostics to the Next Level
“The most accurate level of diagnostics ensures the best course of treatment,” says Dr. Magrey.

“Knowledge is power. That’s why the first major piece of equipment I invested in was a digital panoramic X-ray machine. It provides us with an accurate ear-to-ear picture of the upper and lower jaw, face and neck. In addition to viewing teeth and their positioning, cavities and gum disease, the X-ray allows us to detect other serious issues, like bone cancer, cysts or malformation of the sinus cavity.”

The old-fashioned form of dental X-rays, with uncomfortable bite wings that created mediocre images of the teeth, is replaced with high-tech machinery that a patient stands within and the tool gently rotates semi-circularly around the outside of the head.

“Also, with the digital X-rays, far less radiation enters the body,” she explains. It’s recommended that people have a panoramic digital X-ray every five years.

The technology of crowns has advanced, too, and Dr. Magrey and her team make sure to use the most durable material—zirconia—because they fit better and tend to last longer than the rest.

“The appearance of people’s smiles is as important to us as their health,” she says. “With cosmetic dentistry, we can transform anyone’s smile through veneers and teeth whitening.”

Updating the Office Systems

“To make patient interaction run more smoothly, we’ve also introduced a new software system that allows us to go paperless,” she adds. “Patients can even pay their bills by credit card now. And to make the payment as painless as our procedures, we offer finance plans.”

The Formula is Working
Her patients have given Dr. Magrey nothing but five-star reviews. Just ask Anita B., of Cleveland. “Dr. Magrey is an experienced professional who knows what she’s doing. She’s an excellent dentist who makes her patients feel comfortable. She is a very respectable and qualified doctor of dentistry,” Anita says.

A Little 411 on Dr. Magrey
Dr. Magrey’s circuitous path to owning her own dental practice is an inspiring tale. After spending her childhood in the war-torn city of Kashmir, India, she followed her parents’ encouragement to study hard and dream big.

Although the odds were stacked decidedly against her, she attended dental school in India and decided to move by herself to America at the age of 24.

“I finished my dental degree at the University of Pennsylvania,” she says. “Afterward I moved to Cleveland to be closer to my sister, who is a rheumatologist here. I married and have two beautiful daughters, who are in elementary school and high school.”
