A good friend of Mimi’s once revealed that she pulled into the parking lot of large fitness facility to do a morning workout when she saw a few thin, attractive women walking into the gym.

Her heart sank.

She left immediately and bought a donut.

We all have days like that, darling, days when we wonder if we can be the type of person we want to be, if we are even worth the effort, if it’s too late for us.

Well, it’s not too late. All you may need is a guide.

When it comes to doing anything well, it helps to have help—a coach, a teacher, a guide, someone to keep you focused. Pro golfers and tennis players have instructors, as do concert pianists, gymnasts, and singers. Wealthy business owners have accountants, financial advisors, management coaches, mentors. And you can bet that Hollywood actors and supermodels have a team of people helping them develop and keep their six-pack abs and thigh gaps.

But you don’t have to be a superstar to enjoy the success that comes with having a coach. Here in Northeast Ohio, Dr. Frank Dachtler, the founder of Broadview Heights’ HealthyOne Weight Loss is helping women and men lose weight and keep it off by serving as a their guide.

“The first thing I do is sit down with a patient and listen to their story,” Dr. Dachtler says. “I want to understand what your weight loss goals are and what is going on in your life that is keeping you from meeting those goals. Losing weight isn’t about dieting. It’s about making a lifestyle change that fundamentally alters your relationship with food.”

That’s right. You have a relationship with food. We all do. The big question is: Is that relationship a healthy one?

One-on-one Personal Attention
Under the HealthyOne Weight Loss program, you’ll work directly with Dr. Dachtler to identify goals and develop a program based specifically on your lifestyle, body-type and nutritional needs. To help you stay on track, you’ll text with him daily and meet with him once a week.

“We help our patients re-learn how to eat and to understand which food combinations are best for their body type,” says Dr. Dachtler, adding that 92 percent of diagnosed diabetes, 86 percent of heart disease, and 36 percent of cancers can be prevented or eliminated with a change in diet. “So it’s not just a matter of fitting into your skinny clothes; it really is a matter of life and death.”

In your first consultation with Dr. Dachtler, you’ll determine together whether you are a candidate for the HealthyOne Weight Loss plan. “I’m personally involved in your success so the number of people I can help is limited,” he says. “Our program is right for most people, but not right for everyone. We can usually figure that out in the first meeting.”

Once you sign up, you and Dr. Dachtler will lay out an initial six-week program, involving what to eat, how much to eat, and when to eat it. And there are no pre-packaged foods to buy. “Everything we recommend can be bought at your local grocery store,” Dr. Dachtler says. “If you cannot buy it a grocery store, it’s unlikely to become a permanent lifestyle change.”

Okay, How Much?
Unlike the sports psychologist for, say, Tiger Woods, the HealthyOne Weight Loss program is surprisingly affordable. The six-month program costs about $10 a day. But in truth, it can cost you nothing.

“Most patients discover that what they save at the grocery store—and by not eating fast food—more than offsets the cost of the program,” Dr. Dachtler says. “Think about how much you spend on food each month. A lot of that cost goes right back into your pocket. And because many patients get off of their blood pressure and cholesterol-lowering medications, there are savings there, too.”
