The bridal industry is said to be one of the last few “touchy-feely” ones where people want to see, feel and experience everything involved before they buy—from the dress to the reception venue, menu and invitations.

Coming off two years of postponed nuptials, 2023 is looking to be a bumper year for weddings. Here in Lake County, the expected number of people who’ll tie the knot is projected to be around 3,500.

Many of those will put their trust in Jones Printing to deliver gorgeous, custom-printed invitations that are reflective of their unique spirit.

Founded by Jim Jones in 2002, after decades in the print industry, the operation began specializing in wedding invitations in an organic and unexpected way.

“As a favor to a few clients and friends, we printed their daughters’ invitations in 2020,” he says. “After that, word got around and demand spiked. We enjoy being part of the creative process. And our full-service print operation opened doors to interesting finished products that people cannot find through online printers, such as specialty papers, custom shapes and foil printing. With us, the sky’s the limit in terms of design.”

Today, along with his daughter, Chelsey, and wife, Carolyn, both of whom help with wedding shows and spreading the word, the family has built a dedicated wedding invitation design studio within its Willoughby headquarters. Complete with crystal chandeliers, gilt walls and displays illustrating a wide range of styles, the new studio is open for business.

Talking Bridal Trends
When Jim or his design staff sits down with the interested parties during a “complimentary design consultation,” either bride alone, bride and groom or bride and friends or parents, they like to get an idea for the mood of the wedding.

“We listen more than we speak,” says Jim. “Every couple has a one-of-a-kind vibe. People usually already have a good idea of what they want. We help them find the best fit by going through examples of hundreds of images, colors, fonts and templates available, as well as other invitation samples we’ve printed. This is the first impression people will have of the biggest day of your life. It should be the perfect reflection of you.”

The traditional five-piece VIP Full Design package includes the invitation card, info/reception cards, RSVP card, RSVP response envelope and addressed mailing envelope.

“After everything has been approved, we run a last proof of exactly how the piece will look for the bride and groom,” he says. “We also include printing addresses on the envelopes free of charge.”

According to the wedding site The Knot, 2023 trends in stationery allow couples to express their unique personalities more than ever, and Jones can deliver that.

“Couples are opting for a little more modern and daring feeling, with geometric shapes, Celtic knots, organic elements like greenery and clear print accents or white print on rich colored paper,” says Jim. “Of course, there’s always a place for more traditional florals or even simple text on high-end paper stock for a clean, elegant look.”

When it comes to wedding invitations from Jones Printing, customization is key. No cookie-cutter invites here. Every aspect of the invitation is designed for the couple.

All the Special Touches
As a full-service print operation, Jones Printing also offers a host of accessory items for any wedding, including signage for the reception or shower, table tents, menus, ceremony programs, seating cards, gift tags and thank you cards and more.

“In addition to weddings, we also print invitations for any special event,” says Jim. “People like that we are active in our local community and also care about environmentally sustainable business practices, including reducing waste and recycling stock.”
