At ASE Outdoor Solutions, owner Tyler Hewit isn’t happy until you’re 100% happy with your lawn and landscape

From weekly lawn maintenance and mulch services to landscape and hardscape projects and excavation services, the crews at ASE Outdoor Solutions have earned a reputation for living up to their acronym (A Superior Edge).
“As a one-stop shop, our clients have come to know us over the years for offering whatever it takes to bring their dream yard to life,” says Tyler Hewit, who founded ASE 11 years ago. “I feel one of the ways we are different from our competition is that I’m an owner/operator. Clients will see me out in their yards, getting muddy and doing the work. Another way we stand apart is that I take the time to hire the right people and train the right people. At the end of the day, I’m not happy until the customer is 100% happy. It’s my personal guarantee.”
Take Back Your Time
Over the years, Tyler says that one of the fastest growing parts of his business has been weekly lawn maintenance and yard clean-ups.
“Why waste an afternoon every week doing back-breaking work when you can leave it all in the hands of the professionals?” he asks. “We’re the experts in lawn care, knowing how long your grass should be mowed depending on the time of year and climate. For instance, it’s beneficial to keep grass a little longer in the spring and summer, to allow for root development and shade the soil to minimize evaporation. We also can seed bald spots in the spring for the lushest, greenest lawn in the neighborhood.”
Another lawn chore that’s best left to the pros? Laying mulch.
“This is even more back-breaking than mowing,” says Tyler. “We can work with homeowners to select the perfect complement of top-quality mulch to their home, including natural brown and black and dyed brown in double shred or triple shred. And beyond the sharp look it will add to a home, mulch serves beneficial purposes, such as nurturing the soil with nutrients, insulating and protecting it, as well as inhibiting weeds. With our buying in bulk and fast-spreading equipment, we can do the job in a fraction of the time it would take one person doing it on their own. And we pass that savings along to the client.”
He reports that mulch season runs from mid-March through July.
“I hope folks get on our schedule early this year,” he says. “As soon as Easter hits, our phones are ringing off the hook for mulch.”
Spring clean-ups and tree pruning are two other popular requests, preparing beds to be mulched and getting rid of dead branches and debris left from winter.
Landscapes, Hardscapes, Excavation
“We also perform a lot of total rehabs, where we tear out everything that’s there and start new,” he says.
“Landscape design is a favorite part of my job. I enjoy getting to know the homeowner and his or her style. Most people want a design that includes maintenance-free landscape stock. We take that into consideration in orchestrating a variety of shapes, heights and colors that will bloom spring, summer and fall. Our stock is hand-picked from the best growers in Ohio.”
ASE also has the capability for major yard transformation. They do walkways, decks, patios, pergolas, arbors, retaining walls, outdoor kitchens and pavilions. And since they are certified as a professional drainage contractor, ASE’s excavation crew can provide all the heavy lifting when it comes to French drains, burying downspouts, catch basins, and footer tiles, as well as grading yards with specialty excavation equipment.
