Bunker Hill’s new state-of-the-art golf simulator can take your game to the next level
By Ken McEntee
Face control isn’t about suppressing your grimace after an awful drive. It’s about how your club face meets the ball to make it fly straight off the tee.
Today it’s easier than ever to save face—and diagnose the reason for those embarrassing hooks and slices. That’s because Bunker Hill Golf Course has upgraded its popular full-swing golf simulators to the latest technology available.
“Our new Tiger Woods Full Swing Pro 2.0 machines with Ion3 camera technology are brand-new to the area and are endorsed by John Rahm and Tiger Woods, two of the top names in golf,” announces General Manager Chad Gibson. “The simulators provide an incredible amount of data to help you improve your game. Previously, they showed your swing path, whether it's inside-out or outside-in, and whether your club face is open or closed. Now, instead of just showing an image of your club, four cameras creating three infrared barriers capture the moment your club physically makes contact with the ball, frame by frame. That gives you important information to make corrections.”
And if you need additional help, the Greg Jones Golf Academy offers lessons at Bunker Hill.
“We invested a quarter of a million dollars to offer a simulator that nobody else in the area has,” Chad says. “It’s huge for golfers at all skill levels to be able to learn to take their game to the next level. At the same time, it’s a real fun way of getting out of the snow and playing some indoor winter golf, whether you just want to hit some balls, play a scramble or virtually try out some of the world’s elite courses.”
Or you can have a blast doing things you might not get away with in real life—like aiming at the driving range ball retrievers or shattering windows of a downtown building.
“The simulators include a ton of fun arcade games,” Chad says.
The Greg Jones Golf Academy offers lessons every day at Bunker Hill.
“They also hold a Saturday morning junior league program, a women's league on Thursday nights, and a men's league on Wednesday nights,” Chad says. “Greg also does a variety of clinics as well as individual and group lessons for people who want to really sharpen their game.”
You can get acquainted with The Greg Jones Academy and Bunker Hill’s advanced simulators—and have a chance to be on a TV commercial—if you attend a special Demo Days event on Thursday, October 19, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Fox 8’s New Day Cleveland will broadcast live from the event, Chad says.
“The Greg Jones Golf Academy will provide golf tips and simulator instruction, and Bridgestone Golf will provide information about golf ball technology,” he says. “We’ll have giveaways and plenty of appetizers. And we’ll be producing a new commercial for Bunker Hill—and attendees can be a part of it.”
You can affordably swing through the winter with a Bunker Hill simulator membership:
• The Par membership, which is good Monday through Friday, from open until 5:00 p.m., is $1,400.
• The Birdie membership, which is valid anytime Monday through Friday, is $1,600.
• The Eagle membership, which is valid anytime of the week, is $1,800.
You can buy any of those for half the price at MimiDeals.com.
Hourly rates also are available for use of the simulators.
The machines also can be a highlight of your personal or business holiday event, Chad suggests. “We have incredible parties in the Sims Room,” he insists. “We also set up corn hole and Jumbo Jenga for additional entertainment.”
