The newest business to open in Hinckley is actually a nod to days of yesteryear. Stefanec’s Barber Shop is a classic barbershop in every sense. It is a place where you will see familiar faces, get a consistently great haircut every time, and can opt for an old-fashioned hot towel shave.

Located at the corner of Rt. 303 and Ridge Road, the 1,100 square-foot barbershop is housed in what was once the town’s general store back in the 1800s. Though remodeled with new gray-toned flooring and black and chrome leather styling chairs, some nostalgic design touches, like the wood-slat ceiling and a life-size gasoline pump converted into a candy machine, remain.

“We are thrilled to bring back some much-needed Americana with a modern but traditional barbershop, inclusive of the iconic barber pole that will be lit and spinning in the heart of this town for generations to come,” says David Stefanec, managing owner.

A second-generation barber, David and his sister, Julia, started to cut hair under the direction of their father and uncles at the original Stefanec’s Barber Shop in downtown Cleveland.

In 2009 they opened their own shop in Fairview Park, and last month David opened another barbershop in his hometown. “The idea of having a barbershop in this location was born and brought to our attention. With this in mind, our residence and our ties to the local school district, it only made sense to expand our business to the community we are so invested in,” says David.

Stefanec’s Barber Shop offers everything from classic cuts and beard trims to hot towel face shaves. They are known for their military razor shaved bald fades.

A hands-on owner, David is very artistic. He went to the Cleveland Schools of the Arts and majored in visual arts. He now melds his artistic side cutting hair with a strong business acumen.

“I have been cutting hair for 24 years, and I, as well as all of our barbers, guarantee both a consistently great haircut and superb customer service,” says David.

“We are built on walk-in business and will continue to be. It provides convenience to be able to stop in anytime during operating hours. We have a successful potion that we take pride in, with the main ingredient being consistency in a great product.”
