Clear braces to the rescue
By Patricia Nugent
It’s hard to overestimate the importance of perfect teeth in our culture.
Numerous studies have shown that Americans perceive people with straight teeth as 58% more likely to be successful. They’re also more likely to be thought of as happy, healthy and smart.
On the flipside, whenever someone with imperfect, unsightly teeth smiles, others think to themselves, “Why on earth didn’t they get their teeth fixed?” Or, far worse, they don’t smile at all because they are embarrassed to show their teeth.
Thanks to advancements in clear braces, Dr. Rachel Beckett, of Beachwood Dental of North Royalton, says she’s putting perfection back on the table for teens and adults.
“Using ClearCorrect invisible braces, we can fix spaces, overcrowding and shift teeth into alignment,” she says. “The process is pretty simple. I use 3-D scans of a patient’s mouth to come up with a treatment plan. I create a digital simulation of how a person’s smile will change into its final outcome. After they approve that, they receive clear, removable aligners, which are worn for two weeks and replaced with another set of aligners in a series.”
She notes there are advantages to clear braces over traditional braces, as teeth are easier to clean, and there are no white spots post treatment like you might get with brackets.
In addition to ClearCorrect, Dr. Beckett offers a host of other cosmetic dental services, such as bonding, veneers and inlays.
