Do you look older than you feel?

Many patients after the age of 45 begin to notice their faces seem to be “drooping” and creases such as their nasolabial folds (the corners of the nostrils to the corners of the lips) and marionette lines (straight down from the mouth corners) look deeper. Injectable fillers are an ideal solution for these concerns.

As we age, we lose volume in our cheeks, lips, chin, jaw line, tear troughs and hands. Fillers can be used as volumizers, replacing this lost volume and giving the face and hands a more natural, youthful appearance.

Certain fillers actually build collagen and are best for deep injections, such as volume replacement in the cheeks or filling in the indentation in the jaw line in front of the jowls. These fillers are also preferred for the backs of the hands.

Hyaluronic acid fillers, such as Juvederm, are soft and malleable, and are therefore the most common choices to replace volume in the lips.

Fillers are also used to erase or soften lines and creases, such as parenthesis lines at the sides of the mouth, marionette lines, nasolabial folds, and smoker’s lines around the lips. Hyaluronic acid fillers are a good choice for line correction because they are soft. Several of the newer hyaluronic acid fillers can be injected extremely superficially and are good choices for very fine, shallow creases, like those adjacent to the lips.

Fillers can even be used to fill in creases on the ear lobes and to contour the nose, such as filling in a hollow on the bridge or smoothing a prominent bump.
