Find out what's your best fit for Medicare
By Beth Newcomb
This is all we do,” says Dawn Soroka, a licensed insurance agent with HealthMarkets Insurance Agency. “We spend countless hours learning about Medicare changes every year. In fact, we get freshly certified prior to each annual election period. And because HealthMarkets is an independent agency, meaning we aren’t beholden to any one insurance company, we have access to hundreds of different carriers in our area.”
“Some people need to save money on prescriptions, others need certain doctors or a certain hospital system,” Kathy adds. “Our focus is to find out what matters most to you, what your budget looks like, and then match you with options that meet those criteria for you to choose from.”
“There is always a ‘best fit’ for each person,” Steven inserts. “And your best fit might not be the same as your spouse, or your neighbor, or your friend. That’s why a review is so important. Every year, there are tweaks to different plans, new plans introduced, and some plans eliminated. It’s important to find out if the plan you had last year is still the best fit for you this year—or if making a change would serve you better.”
This year’s Medicare election period runs now until Tuesday, December 7. Everyone on Medicare either continues with their current plan into the next election period or makes the switch to a plan that better meets their changing needs. And if you’re a new 65 or you’ll be turning 65 in the next three months, you’ll be choosing a Medicare plan for the first time.
Wherever you fall on the Medicare spectrum, you may be feeling unsure about which plan is best for you.
“No two people have identical situations,” Dawn states. “You have your own health concerns, doctors you prefer, medications you take and extras you need that are specific to you. So, your Medicare plan choice will likely be different than that anyone else, including your spouse.”
A free review with a HealthMarkets agent takes about an hour. During that time your personal situation, including medications, doctors, budget and more, will be explored.
“We create relationships,” Dawn adds. “For us, this is about more than just connecting you to a Medicare plan. We want to serve as a resource to our clients. If you have questions during the year, we’re here for you. If you experience a life change and are unsure of how that impacts you from a health insurance perspective, give us a call. We’re here, today, tomorrow and for the long haul.”
“We want to make sure you get all of the benefits you’re entitled to,” inserts Kathy. “Certainly the goal for most people is to save money, but the goal can also be to get more benefits without having to pay more. There are many plans that may include benefits not previously included. That’s why a review is so important.”
Find Your Fit
Exclusive to HealthMarkets is the Medicare FitScore. “HealthMarkets’ FitScore is a quick, easy way to maximize your Medicare benefits and save money,” says Steven. “After answering a few short questions, we can use our proprietary software to search thousands of plans from leading insurance companies to provide a customized list of the right options for you. The higher the FitScore, the closer the plan is to your ideal match. Like everything we offer, a FitScore provides an unbiased view of which plan might be the best match for you.”
The Competition is Fierce
Medicare carriers may compete with benefits depending on the availability in your area and it’s best to compare your options.
“We’re seeing plans with more benefits added,” Kathy shares. “It makes sense to review your options to find out if you could be getting more in your Medicare plan, without paying more.”
“We’ll cut through the clutter and confusion so you can buy what you need,” Steven says.
Their Guidance is Free
Because HealthMarkets agents aren’t captive, they direct their efforts toward clients, helping them to navigate the sometimes-baffling waters of Medicare. And the cost for a one-on-one review and their guidance? Nothing. All time spent with the HealthMarkets agent of your choice is absolutely free, whether that’s during the Medicare election period or any other time throughout the year.
