Find your style at Docere

In keeping with its mission as a destination for aesthetic services that help people look and feel their best, this month Docere Medical Spa and Laser Center is unveiling The Salon at Docere.
“The new space follows suit with our practice of mixing the finest natural products with advanced services,” says owner Lori Leonard.
After she designed the modern-meets-earthy oasis with serene shades of gray and sleek European mirrored styling stations, she set out to hire the best person to oversee the operation: David Young.
“His resume includes styling the news anchors and local celebrities in Columbus, and being featured in style shows, magazines and television shows,” she says. “He also has an uncanny sense of style. As soon as I met him I knew he’d be the perfect fit for us.”
Fueling His Blonde Ambition
David earned a name for himself at the nationally renowned Charles Penzone Grand Salon in Columbus.
Though he enjoys consulting with each client to find the perfect individualized look, he admits to a weakness for blondes.
“Whether you opt for a subtle highlight or full-blown platinum blonde, there’s a lighter, brighter effect that can look good on anyone,” he says. “And going blonde shouldn’t always be done in one treatment. Take, for instance, Khloe Kardashian, who over the period of a year subtly went from brunette to a gorgeous, believable honey blonde.”
David reports he also specializes in men’s cuts, from scissors to clippers.
“Men are into looking their best more than ever before,” he says. “And they are increasingly open to different styles and options.”
David and his energetic, handpicked staff are also trained in Hot Heads hair extensions as means of adding volume, length or just having fun with high- or lowlights or fashion colors.
New Natural Lines, Purer Formulations
In addition to staying ahead of the cutting edge when it comes to style, David is well versed and knowledgeable when it comes to hair products.
The two lines of hair and skin products he’s carrying are Davines from Italy and Kevin Murphy from Australia, which is paraben-free, sulfate-free and PETA approved.
With Davines, the products are simply packaged in food-grade containers you can use again. Each product not only lists the region in Italy where the ingredients within it are grown, but also the farm and family that grew them.
“There are many different collections within the line to address every type and condition of hair—from straight to curly, fine, thinning, stressed, color-treated and more,” he says.
You can’t get any greener or cleaner than Kevin Murphy, David reports. “Pure formulas treat hair and transform your style,” he says. “They also smell like heaven.”
Taking Care of the Planet, Too
The Salon at Docere doesn’t stop at offering the best natural products. It has partnered with the Greencircle program to promote sustainability.
“Nearly everything that leaves here will have a second life. It’s beyond amazing,” he says. “It just feels right to keep the planet healthy and beautiful.”
Everything from hair clippings to color tubes and aerosol cans find a new purpose.
