Electricity is one of those things people take for granted, until something goes wrong.

May is Electrical Safety Month. We’re celebrating by offering homeowners free electrical safety inspections (a $457 value) all month long.

Electricity is one of those things people take for granted, until something goes wrong. However, many potentially dangerous issues can be easily prevented. During a comprehensive inspection, our electricians will look for loose panel connections, outdated wiring, GFCI outlets, test smoke detectors and address a host of other safety issues.

We feel it’s our duty as licensed electricians to educate people in our community. Here are a few helpful tips:

  • Ensure all cords are in good condition, not frayed or cracked.
  • Make sure your plugs fit your outlets. Never force a plug that doesn’t fit.
  • Make sure extension cords or outlets are not overloaded with too many appliances.
  • Check the wattage of your light bulbs to make sure they are the correct fit to the fixture.
  • Never leave plugged-in appliances where they may come into contact with water.
  • Don’t use space heaters with extension cords. Plug them directly into an outlet and unplug them when you’re finished with the heater.

Stoves, ovens, dryers, central heating units, televisions and radios cause more than 67,800 household electrical fires in this country each year.

We stand behind our tagline, “We take the shock out of your electrical service.” Ensuring our customers’ safety is our top priority. We want to make it affordable and convenient, so we created a Safety and Savings Plan. Members enjoy a complimentary annual electrical safety inspection, priority scheduling, and will not pay for service calls.
