Get in shape, build strength and meet your goals at MaxStrength Fitness Strongsville
By Patricia Nugent
The ribbon has been snipped, champagne sipped, and confetti popped. Following the grand opening celebration at Strongsville’s newest high-tech training studio—MaxStrength Fitness—it’s time to get down to business.
“We’re thrilled to see the excitement our opening has generated and happy to have welcomed many new clients already,” says Founder Jeff Tomaszewski.
What’s the secret sauce that has made MSF so refreshingly novel in the local strength training landscape?
“It’s about results, but it also goes beyond the results,” says Jeff. “I think people enjoy the experience here (most clients stay with us for years) because of how easily our science-based protocol fits in their busy lives. We help them reach their goals in two, weekly, 20-minute sessions on low-friction equipment. Another game-changer is since we keep studio temps pleasantly chilly, clients enjoy sweat-free workouts so they can come in on their lunch hour or mornings and then go directly to work or wherever without needing a shower.”
With an extensive background in training and exercise science, Jeff founded MaxStrength with an ethos of helping people age better, avoiding the cascade of negative health effects that happen when they lose muscle over the years.
“Our clients become stronger, gaining muscle mass, flexibility and energy,” he says.
Meet Theresa Parente
When a doctor tells you to make exercise a priority to enjoy a longer, fuller life, you take note. But when it’s your own son…you really listen.
Theresa Parente’s son John, who is an emergency room physician, gave her the gift of free sessions at MaxStrength 11 years ago, letting her know the importance of investing in her health.
“I’ve been going ever since,” says the active 69-year-old grandmother of five. “I drive from North Royalton to the Westlake location twice a week and it’s worth it. Now that Strongsville is open, I’ll be going there.”
In 2002, Theresa was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, a condition that causes her body to attack its own joints. The disease had progressed to the point where she couldn’t pick up a hanger without dropping it. But she refuses to let it slow her down.
“I’ve made the commitment to enjoy these years as actively as possible,” she says. “I keep my muscles strong to protect the joints and bones and give me enough energy to run around after my precious 4-year-old grandson Vinny.”
The trainers at MaxStrength planned a program around her goals and capabilities and modify it when needed.
“Since the training is one-on-one, they are always monitoring to make sure my form is perfect,” she says. “I let them know if I’m having a bad day. They push me when needed and I have progressively become stronger over the years. I have no plans of stopping. I keep telling myself that a moving river doesn’t freeze. It’s nice at my age to be on a path of improvement.”
Meet the Strongsville Team
The tenacious team at MaxStrength shares similarities in background, training, certifications and professionalism. At Strongsville, the lead trainers are Mike Palko and Kayla Yanky.
A trainer for five years, Mike is ACSM-certified. His training philosophy is simple: consistency and patience.
“We will take care of the rest here at the studio with a routine tailored to you,” he says. “We have amazing trainers who will push your limits and do everything they can to help reach your goals, but it all begins with consistency and not rushing the process.”
Mike says the best part of his job is how rewarding it is working with clients and building relationships while helping them reach their big and small goals.
“Working at MaxStrength has never felt like just a job to me,” he says. “Jeff has built an amazing experience for the clients here, but also never forgets his team. He treats us all like family.”
Kayla’s passion for fitness goes back to when she started playing sports as a 5-year-old.
Fast-forward to today and she explains her philosophy as this: “Always keep in mind that your future self will thank you. This goes for most things in life, but especially when it comes to health. Every workout, every time you show up, every time you push yourself harder than the last, every small act of kindness toward your health will be appreciated by your future self.”
A certified trainer for three years, Kayla says she, “gets excited when people choose to make fitness a lifestyle, rather than just a chore. What I like most about my job is getting to interact with various personalities as well as building relationships.”
