Half housewares shop, half cocktail bar, the 1811 Shop & Bar Room is a place where you can shop and socialize.

Owned by Amanda Kaye and Michael Prediger—she’s the storekeeper, he’s the barkeeper—the couple is melding their passions.

“We opened the store last fall and the bar last month,” says Michael. “We make classic drinks to exact specifications but also introduce unique ingredients like shrubs and lemon curd.”

Serving craft cocktails with homemade syrups and premium bitters, the bar is tucked in the back of the store furnished with bar stools and seven tables.

“Though we serve premium liquors, wines and beer, we created a place that is very relaxed,” says Michael.

e bar is open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday until 11 p.m., and on those days the store stays open late for people who wish to sip and shop.

The third generation of her family to live in Brecksville, Amanda named the store after the year the city was founded. And even one of the signature drinks—What’s the 44141?—is a nod to the city. This luscious drink is made with bourbon, lemon juice, ginger syrup and lemon curd.

“Our inspiration for the store and bar are the small shops and cafes in Florence, Italy,” Amanda says.

From Italian olive oil and pottery to other globally inspired items mingling with locally made products, the shop also sells some of the items served in the bar.

1811 Shop & Bar Room is located at 7730 Chippewa Road in Brecksville. Call 440-630-9411 or visit 1811Home.com to make reservations.
