For the fourth year in a row, the Home Builders Association (HBA) of Greater Cleveland’s Charitable & Education Foundation (HBACEF), Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana (OKI) and News 5, (WEWS TV) have teamed up to create an opportunity for some lucky person to win a brand-new home. This year it’s a $750,000-plus home in Avon’s popular Redtail subdivision, nestled among manicured greens and luxury homes in varying styles and designs.

The 2023 HBA Home for the Holidays, built by Mancuso Homes of Rocky River, will total 3,100 square feet featuring a European two-story style with 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, and a 3-car garage.

“We are incredibly honored to do what we love, which is design and build homes, while giving back to our local community,” says Darren Mancuso, who owns Mancuso Homes with his wife Kate. “Both Make-A-Wish and the HBA’s Workforce Development Programs are deserving causes close to our hearts.”

Tickets are $100 each and the goal is to sell 15,000 tickets. The winning ticket will be drawn on New Year’s Eve and announced on News 5. Last year’s winner of the HBA Home for the Holidays house in North Royalton was Karen Michalczyk from North Olmsted.

Raffle proceeds benefit Make-A-Wish, OKI and HBACEF.

About Make-A-Wish
Make-A-Wish grants life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. The Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana Chapter has granted 20,000 wishes since it started in 1983 and in the last three years, the HBA’s Home for the Holidays raffle has raised more than $500,000 for the chapter.

According to a national impact study, nine out of ten wish kids said that their wish experience relieved them from traumatic stress, which helped their well-being and gave them strength to fight their illness. Simply put, a wish can be powerful medicine.

About HBACEF
Founded in 2012, HBACEF has provided scholarships for students entering the construction industry and community support on projects including the Greater Cleveland Fisher House, Special Veterans in Need, Homes for Our Troops, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and Make-A-Wish.

“To build a home like this, we need more young people to get into the trades,” explains Brenda Callaghan, Executive Director of the HBA’s Greater Cleveland Chapter. “The career opportunities are endless and the salaries in the construction field are very good and growing. Almost 200 kids participated in our student hard hat tours in 2022 to see and experience firsthand what it takes to build a house.”

Tickets for the 2023 HBA Home for the Holidays are now on sale at HBAHomeForTheHolidays.org.
