Here’s how the team at My Personal Trainer can help you make the ultimate transformation with a recipe for success
By Patricia Nugent
The building block ingredients in the recipe for success in life are consistency and hard work. But when it comes to getting in the best shape, the work needs to be backed by knowledge and expertise.
Oftentimes people start an exercise program on their own and abandon it after they don’t start seeing results. You can work hard and with consistency, going to the gym every day and spending time on the machines, yet not see results.
Turning to the professionals for help—the trainers at My Personal Trainer studios—will put you on the path toward health and wellness. This elite level of one-on-one strength training is programmed for success, following a protocol of two 20-minute sessions per week on specialized equipment designed to efficiently fatigue the muscles in the shortest amount of time.
“With smart strength training and nutrition designed to boost the metabolism, people can overcome detractors to wellness such as menopause and aging,” he says. “You have the power to decide how you want to spend the rest of your life.”
Meet Theresa and Chris
Theresa K. and Chris M. are excellent examples of what can be achieved here.
Although 50-something Theresa has always been active, going walking, canoeing and kayaking with her husband, over the past few years the weight has crept up on her.
“I’ve never been a gym person, but I knew I needed to do something to turn things around,” she says. “I was reluctant to spend all my time in a gym just to get thin, life’s too short. When I read about My Personal Trainer in Mimi Magazine, I thought it might be a good fit.”
Heath Burkholder, who trains with Theresa, reports that over the past eight months, her hard work and dedication have paid off to the tune of a five percent loss of fat and six percent gain in muscle tissue.
So far, she’s dropped three sizes and feels fantastic and full of energy.
“Before coming here, I would wake up stiff and achy. Now I wake up pain free and totally energized,” she says. “I never dread going to the workouts. They are fast-paced and fun, with the trainer alongside me checking form and encouraging me.”
Sixty-something Chris M. started working out at MPT four months ago. Due to her husband’s job in IT, they have had to move four times over the past 10 years. Every time they moved, she seemed to gain a little more weight, until she found herself at an all-time high.
“I tried every fad diet out there and they didn’t work,” she says. “From my first session here, I felt renewed energy. In fact, my husband calls me the Energizer Bunny.”
Heath reports her weight loss has been impressive, 44 pounds, which took her from a size 14 to a size 8.
“I’ve worked out with other trainers over the years, but that takes more time, and I never saw the results I have with My Personal Trainer,” she adds. “The customized meal planning pushed my progress along, helping me track everything I eat. My husband is exercising here now as well. We both plan to prolong our years and get the maximum enjoyment out of them.”
Nutrition Plays a Big Role
Working with their trainers, both Theresa and Chris began journaling their food intake.
“We do body assessments that allow us to customize their daily nutrition goals to their bodies, for instance when it’s best to increase or decrease water intake, protein or fat intake,” says Heath.
Maintaining Muscle
“Without proper strength training women (more than men on average) will begin to lose muscle and accumulate body fat starting in their late teens.”
“If you want to age well and enjoy a healthy life, maintaining muscle is essential,” says My Personal Trainer owner Eric Schaefer. “Muscle gives us our mobility, figure, energy, strength, and is what determines our metabolism. Plus, avoiding obesity will save you from chronic diseases related to it, such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.”
Getting our clients leaner and stronger is the primary goal at MPT.
“Exercising intensely twice a week, to allow the muscles to rebuild between sessions, is a research-based method to gain lean muscle. Often people who train on their own don’t allow themselves enough rest, which can lead to unnecessary weight gain, strength plateaus or injury,” says Eric. “Our effective, convenient 20-minute, twice a week program produces five times faster results than doing it on your own—with the guidance and accountability of having your own trainer.”
