If you ask hairstylists what they love about their job, most of them will tell you they take joy in helping their clients look their best. But at The Hair Specialists they take it to heart, helping clients who struggle with hair loss.

Salon owner Kelly Nemitz is passionate about making clients who have hair loss feel happy and confident again. It is personal for her as she has struggled with hair loss since birth.

“I was born with no hair, and it only started to grow in as peach fuzz until I was 5 years old,” she says. “During my teenage years, my hair was so thin that I weaved in hair extensions, and it made me feel gorgeous. From that moment on, I knew I wanted to share that feeling with everyone who struggles with hair loss and embarked on a career in cosmetology.”

No matter what your level of hair loss, or its cause, The Hair Specialists can help you. Find out how you can embrace your hair again, on page 5. Pictured (L to R) are: Michi, Jill, Melissa, Maritza, Kelly, Courtney and Allison.

For the past 12 years, The Hair Specialists salon helps clients prevent, disguise and regrow hair.

“We find solutions for thinning hair, no matter what your specific condition is. Every story is different and hair loss is so complex,” says Kelly. “We work with women and men at every stage of hair loss. We also help children pro bono through Wigs for Kids and Children with Hair Loss.”

“We offer complimentary consultations where we determine what treatment plan we can do to strengthen, grow and camouflage your hair,” she adds. “In addition to treating hair loss, we also act as a health coach and give our clients tips on how to live a healthier life, because stress is a huge killer of hair.”

The salon is seeing an influx of clients who are experiencing hair loss after having Covid. Called telogen effluvium, this abrupt onset of hair shedding is usually temporary as it lasts six to nine months, but it can become chronic.

“These clients remark that they always had thick, beautiful hair and now after Covid they are losing their hair and don’t know where to turn for help,” says Kelly. “We’re a niche salon that can help anyone suffering from hair loss.”

With an arsenal to treat all types of hair loss, the salon has one of the biggest selections of hair extensions and clip-on toppers that add fullness to hair, and the stylists can also make custom-molded wigs or camouflage hair loss with powders and sprays. The salon also has products and in-salon treatments to combat hair loss.

Opened 2010 in Hudson by owner Kelly Nemitz (third from left), The Hair Specialists helps clients prevent and disguise hair loss and regrow hair.

“Everything we do results in very natural-looking hair,” says Kelly, who is a certified master hair loss specialist. “Our hair extensions are made from 100% human hair, and they come in multitude of colors and textures. We mimic exactly what you have but give you more.”

“There are also haircutting and coloring techniques that we can do that make your hair look thicker and more voluminous,” she adds.

The non-surgical hair replacement salon also sells supplements and serums that help grow hair back naturally.

Even though the salon specializes in hair replacement solutions, it doesn’t have a medical feel but rather a chic vibe that is very welcoming. The stylists work together as a team to best serve the clients..

“Everyone has their own hair story, we provide solutions for your story.” says, Kelly.
