Impeccable workmanship and a “do-it-all” approach has made Deck Rescue synonymous with wood restoration

Your home is a big investment. If your house is a log cabin or has wood siding, you are fortunate to own a home of natural beauty. But that beauty requires a few worthwhile maintenance steps to keep it looking like new instead of cracked, dried, and weathered.
Wood decks present similar qualities of beauty accompanied by maintenance issues.
Unfortunately, your home’s exterior or the deck you enjoy so much is outside where it must weather the hammering of hot, dry summer sun alternating with moist, humid heat. Worse, the damaging effects of Northeast Ohio’s brutal winters pile on additional weathering. The result is dry, weathered and discolored wood that can become faded and unattractive or coated with grime and mold.
Is there a way to restore a weather worn home exterior or wood deck to its former glory?
Dave Hydock, president and founder of Deck Rescue, offers a definitive, “Yes.”
Dave describes his company philosophy this way: “This is not merely a job to us; it is a passion. To witness the transformation of old, weathered and discolored wood to like-new condition never gets boring. It’s absolutely amazing. Our slogan is, ‘We Love What We Do, Restoring It For You!’ and we live it every day.”
With 26 years of experience and a team of trained, dedicated technicians serving area homeowners and businesses, Deck Rescue can enhance the enjoyment and longevity of your favorite gathering spot, be it a deck or an entire house.
For Wood & Composite
Deck Rescue’s solution is to clean, beautify, and protect your deck, whether it is made of wood or composite. The team utilizes a vital two-step process in restorations. First, they apply a wood soap to remove dirt, algae, and gray wood fibers. In the case of composite decks, a dedicated composite cleaner is used to remove unhealthy mold—a condition affecting a great number of these synthetic surfaces. An anti-microbial is applied immediately afterward to slow the growth of future mold spores.
Following a thorough cleaning of wood decks, Deck Rescue applies a protective sealant to repel water and harmful UV rays. A tinted sealer, or “toner,” is the product of choice as it protects surfaces for two to three years on horizontal surfaces and four to five years on vertical surfaces. It is this proven procedure that has made Deck Rescue an industry leader for nearly two decades.
To DIY or Not?
For homeowners contemplating restoring their exterior wooden structures themselves, Dave offers a cautionary note. His one word of advice is simply, “Don’t.”
“We see three major problems when unpracticed do-it-yourselfers attempt to restore their own decks or natural wood exteriors,” he explains. “First, the wood is generally not cleaned properly. This reduces the longevity of the treatment by up to 50%. Second, as much product lands on the surrounding areas as on the deck or house itself. And, finally, homeowners often over-coat their wood structures. This results in the need for an expensive chemical stripper to be applied to remove the excess coating. Any savings generated by doing the work themselves is negated the next time around.”
“That’s why we have such a loyal base of customers who rely on us for beautiful restoration results that extend the lives of their natural wood homes, decks, and fences,” Dave proudly concluded.
