Colored Kitchen Cabinets
Infusing color into your kitchen is more than just a design trend. It’s an opportunity to express your personal style and create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Whether you prefer bold, vibrant hues (think navy blue) or soft, muted tones (think sage green), colored cabinets can reflect your personality and set the mood for the entire space.

Ron Kaye (center) founded Kaye Construction in 1994. His sons, Joe (left) and Josh, grew up in the business working alongside their dad. Today, they help homeowners renovate and improve their homes, inside and out, for esthetic and functionality purposes.

“Cabinet manufacturers are offering more painted cabinets in hues of blue, green, gray and black that add more personality to a space,” says Josh Kaye, who along with his brother Joe owns this local business. “If you are not ready to dive into more color, try mixing colors and wood stains. Most of our recent kitchens have showcased more than one color of cabinetry.”

“Homeowners this year also have been opting for stained wood cabinetry to give the kitchen more warmth and then pairing those with painted cabinets for accents,” he says. “Clients have been loving the look of natural hickory wood paired with white or gray as an accent color.”

Details matter. Kaye Construction works with homeowners to incorporate a blend of function and style in kitchen designs. From pullout spice cabinets to tile choices, Kaye will help you through the process of selections.

“We custom design every kitchen, spending a lot of time working on the design with the homeowners to make sure all the materials and accessories work together,” Josh says.

“Though it is fun to see the latest trends, we tell our clients to choose what they love. Trends come and go, but what you like will always stay near and dear to you.”

It’s All in the Details

“By opting for frameless cabinetry, you can gain more space for storage inside each cabinet,” Josh explains. Often referred to as full access cabinets, frameless construction offers greater accessibility by eliminating the face frame and relying on its thicker, ¾-inch sides, top and bottom for stability.

The cabinetry line also offers lots of accessories that will make your kitchen even more functional, such as pullout corner base cabinets, built-in spice racks, baker’s tray organizers, Kitchen Aid lifts, and other small appliance storage spaces.

“We can make up for a lot of shortcomings in the space by using accessories,” Josh says. “The newer cabinetry is designed with storage in mind.”

“We are working through the winter remodeling kitchens,” he notes. “Our company also specializes in room additions, and we will begin those in the spring when the weather is more favorable.”

“We have been busy this year building in-law suite additions for those adding family members to their home. For those who are looking to age in place, we can build a first-floor addition that allows homeowners to stay in the home they love,” Josh says. “We also have been designing additions to make the primary bedroom and bathroom bigger, as well as bumping out kitchens.”
