Liberty Camp USA teaches kids about the importance of freedom and patriotism
By Olivia Bloom
As we enter the 2021 summer season, Liberty Camp has become Liberty Camp USA. The name change reflects the goal to expand across this great nation, creating the next great generation of patriots—one time traveler at a time.
Liberty Camp USA will take place in Lake County at Lake Metroparks Hidden Lake Shelter, 7024 Kniffen Road, Leroy Twp., Monday, July 12, through Friday, July 16. The Geauga County camp will be at Chickagami Park, 17957 Tavern Road, Rt. 168, Monday, July 26, through Friday, July 30. Camp is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Time Travelers are entering first through seventh grade and Young Patriots contribute as reenactor assistants, ages eighth grade through college.
As campers go back to the 1700s and experience the struggles and sacrifices of the colonists as they fight to gain liberty from the British, they meet the known and unknown heroes, learn that America is a republic not a democracy, and that the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution are critical pillars that must be protected. The importance of personal virtue is learned as they stand with America’s founding citizens. Campers experience the work, play and food of the 18th Century.
The cost of Liberty Camp USA is just $50 for the week. LCUSA is a non-profit, 501(c)3 corporation with the goal of reigniting the flame of patriotism in today’s youth by teaching true American history in a fun and memorable way. Register today at LibertyCampUSA.com.
