Families of loved ones living at Vista Springs Ravinia in Independence and Vista Springs Greenbriar Village in Parma are cherished with the same care and attention as their community members.

The all-inclusive facilities offer resort-like, catered living for its community members. Suites in independent living, assisted living and memory care enjoy sweeping views and luxurious amenities. Each community boasts a theater, cafe, courtyard, salon and spa, and a fitness center.

Getting to know families and involve them in the many activities that go on there is a mission of the management team. Meet the delightful children of community member Marlene Lentz.

“They are all quite wonderful and extremely supportive of their mother and of us,” says Senior Managing Partner Sheila James. “We just felt that they were a great example of the kind of experience you can have here, with Marlene making a smooth transition from her home and living her life to the fullest.”

This is Marlene’s Story
Her roll call of family members includes sons Tom Lentz and wife Cindy, Jim Lentz and wife Nora, John Lentz and wife Karen; and daughter Denise Eckman and her husband Mark; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

“Mom had lived in her condo in Brecksville for about 20 years after our father passed away,” says Tom. “At 83, she was starting to have physical challenges and struggling a bit with her memory. She was always such a social and intelligent person, involved with church activities and playing in bridge groups. But we had noticed she was having less and less interaction with others. She was getting lonely and isolated.”

The siblings toured several senior care facilities, but decided Vista Springs was the best fit for their mom.

“It’s nice that it’s centrally located to us so we can visit her often,” says Jim. “And compared to most places, the décor is beautiful, but I think the caring staff is what really made up our minds and our mom’s. It just feels like home here.”

Paving a Smooth Transition
“The staff here did a great job of helping us and my mom decorate her suite, she picked out her colors and bought all new furniture,” says Denise.

“The people here are in tune with each person’s interests. Once they found out my mom enjoyed dominoes, they set up a group for that, and she loved it. They are so encouraging.”

Community Involvement
“Even during the pandemic, we got creative and planned socially distanced activities, such as photos with Santa, and people in the surrounding community loved it,” says Beth Bowman, who is director of business development.

“At Christmas, we turned into 123 Candy Cane Lane, and have decorated for a festive Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day.”
