A comment shoppers often make about Maple Country Meats is that it feels like a farmers’ market any day of the week. In addition to local, farm-raised meats (beef, pork, lamb, goat, chicken, ground beef, hot dogs and sausage), the family-run, one-stop shop also carries abundant fresh produce.

“Right now, our biggest sellers are Ohio sweet corn and tomatoes,” says Vice President Fred Ahrens. “To take your corn to the next level, try our Black Pepper & Maple Sugar Rub with Garlic. First you soak the ears, then grill them with the husks on for 20 minutes, peel back the husks and slather them in the rub and butter.”

They also do a spin on bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches by adding mozzarella pearls and peppers.

Don’t miss their summer farmers markets, which are switching to Tuesdays, from 1-6 p.m., through Labor Day. You’ll find specials on meats and produce, as well as local artisans and food trucks. Meet Fred and his friendly staff and hear about where your hand-picked food comes from.
