Over the years, Mapledale Farm’s Dave Johnson has sought out the best quality materials to care for your land, whether that means rich topsoil for your small herb garden and the tools needed to bring it to life, to large-scale commercial jobs including mulch, wood chips, straw, hay, compost, sand, stone and PVC pipe. As homage to the land that began as a dairy farm in 1874, Dave Johnson is leading the eighth generation of his family business—Mapledale Farm in Chardon—with an eye to help others appreciate their own great outdoors.

Today the large-scale retail showroom and grounds offers a wide variety of retail and wholesale bulk landscape materials and supplies, as well as lines of Amish-made poly furniture and garden fixtures. The thread running through everything they offer is best-in-class quality, dependability and performance.

Crafted from recycled milk jugs and other plastics, Mapledale Farm’s Amish-made poly furniture pieces are indestructible and maintenance free.

Your Dream Backyard
“People are spending more time entertaining and enjoying their backyard, so they’re getting pickier about the outdoor furniture they buy,” says Dave. “I didn’t make the decision to offer the best-looking and longest-lasting poly furniture until I had personally met with the different manufacturers down in Amish Country and selected the best. Crafted from recycled milk jugs and other plastics, these pieces are indestructible and low maintenance. You can leave them out all year if you like and they won’t fade.”

In a handsome wood-grain finish and rainbow of colors to suit any home, the myriad of products featured in the showroom include Adirondack chairs, rocking chairs, dining sets, swings, chaise lounges, benches, gliders, bars and counters, coffee and end tables, as well as charming products to accent your space, mailboxes, bird feeders, bird baths, weathervanes and arbors.

“Since they’re 100% water resistant and weather-proof, you’ll never need to paint or stain to maintain,” he adds. “I have deep respect and admiration for the level of craftsmanship that goes into each piece. This is next-level heavy-duty. None of these will ever corrode or blow away in a storm. It’s a worthy investment.”

Mapledale Farm offers a full line of retail and wholesale bulk materials to satisfy its clients’ needs—both residential and commercial.

Biggest Bang for Your Buck

Dave possesses a similar reverence for the land. Over the years, he’s sought out the best quality materials to care for your land, whether that means rich topsoil for your small herb garden and the tools needed to bring it to life, to large-scale commercial jobs including mulch, wood chips, straw, hay, compost, sand, stone and PVC pipe.

“We process our own compost here on the farm, with branches, leaves and clippings that produce a mix that’s loaded with beneficial nutrients,” he explains. “We have a mushroom compost that’s 80 percent nitrogen and wonderful to fortify weak or depleted soil. We also offer different types of bird feed, and advice for experienced or beginning birdwatchers on how to attract particular species to their yard.”

When it comes to the equipment gardeners need to maintain their beds, Mapledale Farm offers the top commercial-grade tools. Dave reports you’ll probably never need to buy another wheelbarrow if you get your first from them. Same for garden tools.

“Over the years, our customers have come to rely on us as the one-stop shop in the area for anything they need to maintain, decorate or enjoy their yards,” he says. “We’ve built this business by forging relationships that, like our products, can be trusted to stand the test of time.”

An extension of those relationships are the partnerships Dave has formed with nonprofits, cities and large corporations to give back to the community.
