MaxStrength Fitness can change your life in a way you never imagined
By Patricia Nugent
For someone who hadn’t lifted a weight in more than 25 years, Laurie R. knew when she turned 50 last year that it was time to take a proactive approach to her health and find a professional, non-intimidating environment.
She read a story in Mimi Magazine about MaxStrength Fitness studio that checked a lot of boxes for her: mirror-free, no-sweat, minimal time commitment, one-on-one trainer-led sessions and a proven track record. In January 2020, she gave it a try.
“Having a personal trainer with you at every session is a game-changer,” she says. “The workout equipment is not intimidating, and I know my trainers will provide the direction I need to get the most out of every piece of equipment we utilize during workouts. My trainers (Dominic and Rachel) know exactly how to encourage me and push me to make sure I receive the full benefit of the movements.”
As a busy mom to 16-year-old twins, Laurie also works full time as a project manager and keeps up with a hectic schedule.
“It’s totally manageable to schedule just two 20-minute workouts during my week,” she says. “And since they keep studio temps nice and cool, in the 60s, I can leave here and go back to work or wherever without worrying about showering. But don’t let the ‘no sweat’ part about the workouts fool you, they are very challenging. But I am energized afterward and feel like I got an intense workout.”
After nearly two years as a MaxStrength client, Laurie says she feels much stronger and sees a difference in her overall muscle tone.
“I feel amazing,” she adds. “I’m able to do everyday things I couldn’t before coming here. I couldn’t be happier with my results. It feels wonderful to take time to do something for me. These workouts have made a difference in my body, mind and spirit. I’m looking forward to life after 50.”
Do You Know Your Numbers?
MaxStrength Fitness founder Jeff Tomaszewski is a believer in numbers, research and results. He says Laurie’s positive experience here is testimony to how well his program works.
“Science has shown us that focusing on muscle mass and strength is the key to transforming your body and your life,” he says.
That’s what he based his unusual protocol on—only two weekly 20-minute sessions on precision computerized exercise machines designed to max out your muscles efficiently. The time in-between workouts allows muscles to adapt and rebuild.
“I feel that another key to our success is that everything we do is individualized to the client,” he says. “For instance, we start with an assessment that includes the InBody Analyzer. This technology is the gold standard in terms of body composition analysis. Clients simply stand on the scale and hold monitors for less than a minute to produce a wide breadth of numbers, from body fat and muscle mass to water levels in the body.”
