Miles Farmers Market now offers F-Bombs, delectable chocolate truffles concocted by local teacher Shannon Frei

Always spotlighting local vendors, Miles Farmers Market just started to sell chocolates that are handcrafted in small batches here in Northeast Ohio.
Its newest product offering, F-Bombs, are delectable chocolate truffles concocted by Shannon Frei, a teacher who traded her schoolbooks for mixing bowls.
Every family seems to have their own favorite recipes that become tradition, and this backstory is no different. Shannon’s 97-year-old grandma, affectionately called G-Fox, was known for her homemade chocolate truffles distinguished by a fudgy, dense, rich center.
“I use my grandmother’s original recipe as the base and then put my spin on them with different flavors,” says Shannon. “I started with a peanut butter version and added cookies and cream and cookie dough varieties. New this year are red velvet and cheesecake. I keep true to my grandma’s original recipe and just add new flavored centers that accentuate it.”
Shannon started making truffles in her kitchen but to keep up with demand moved production to a commercial kitchen in Willoughby.
“I use dark premium chocolate and try to keep the ingredients as clean as possible,” she says. “Unlike other truffles wrapped in foil and kept on shelves for months, mine are made fresh daily.”
Not packed with preservatives, they keep fresh in the refrigerator for one to two weeks or frozen in a sealed container for up to 12 months. But don’t worry, you are sure to eat them way before that.
“When you shop at Miles, you can tell food is their passion. I am honored to have the opportunity to have F-Bombs be a part of such a quality market,” says Shannon.
F-Bombs are available at Miles Farmers Market, located at 28560 Miles Road, in Solon. Visit MilesFarmersMarket.com for store details.
