Painting Solutions is prepped and ready to revitalize your home inside and out

Spring is here and it finally feels like it’s time to move forward. Many of us are ready to welcome friends and family, but is the house ready for visitors? Between all the time spent indoors and the effects of the harsh winter months, our homes have taken a beating both inside and out. Dan Peck, owner of Painting Solutions in Chardon, is ready to freshen up the walls, siding and even your deck and patio.

Dan and his crew paint aluminum, vinyl, brick, and, of course, wood siding—and all of these surfaces have their own way of aging. Wood flakes and peels, and aluminum

“You can spend tens of thousands for new siding, or a fraction of that for a good paint job that will transform your home,” says Dan. “And if the job is done right, an exterior paint job will last for 15 to 20 years and three to four for a deck staining.”

Whether it’s painting or staining your home’s surfaces, Dan says it’s important to have the job done professionally.

“It makes all the difference in the result, of course, but also in the life of the job,” says Dan. “Preparation is key, and our crews take the time and the extra steps necessary to prepare surfaces properly. This results in a better finished look, and your paint or stain lasts a whole lot longer.”

For deck cleaning and staining, Painting Solutions’ crews first use large, high-pressured power washers to get the deck as clean as possible before stain is applied—a critical step, according to Dan.

“The deck needs to be as clean as possible and free of dirt and mold before it can really grab the stain,” says Dan. “If it’s not evenly cleaned, the stain will streak and not adhere to the dirty spots. It really is a job better left to professionals like us.”

The Painting Solutions’ crew will also do small repairs on your deck, like replace loose nails and screws.

“Your deck and patios are functional outdoor spaces and extensions of your living space, maybe now more than ever before,” says Dan. “You need to care for them just as you do the inside of your home.”

As a small business owner, Dan has met the challenges of Covid-19 by putting new parameters and new products and services in place for his employees and his customers, so everyone is comfortable with the process.

“It’s been necessary to make some changes to keep everyone safe,” says Dan. “We’ve changed things like having fewer people on a crew to keep their physical proximity at a minimum in a small space. We work hard to keep everyone comfortable with the job, whether it’s outside or inside the home.”

For indoor painting projects, Dan emphasizes his staff’s commitment to cleanliness and care for customers’ homes.

“Crew members follow all recommendations for sanitizing and proper distancing,” says Dan. “Our preparation sets us apart, and so does our ability to adapt to the conditions on each job. That has never been more critical than it is today. I’ve been painting for over 20 years and worked with ‘old school’ painters who taught me to never cut corners, and that a quality job is in the details. I’ve passed all that I’ve learned on to my crew, and we are ready to take on the challenges of the day.”

Dan has also added some new products and services to help keep his employees and clients even safer. He can now use a paint product that has traditionally been common for hospitals, nursing homes, day care centers and schools. Paint Shield by Sherwin Williams is the first EPA-registered microbicidal paint that kills 99.9 percent of many bacteria within two hours of exposure on painted surfaces.

“We can use this product inside now for kitchens, bathrooms, kids’ bedrooms—wherever germs and bacteria are commonly found in the home,”

says Dan. “Available in hundreds of colors, it’s a great option to help maintain the cleanliness and safety of your home for your family.”

Dan has also partnered with a cleaning service that will perform deep interior cleaning after a residential or commercial painting job is complete, to give his clients that extra peace of mind.

“This service goes beyond even our regular thorough cleaning after a job,” says Dan. “For clients concerned about residual dust or germs it’s a great option. We do whatever it takes to make sure that you’re satisfied with the job and comfortable in your home.”
