Quality furniture doesn’t have to cost more
By Patricia Nugent
They say nothing succeeds like success. For The Cleveland Furniture Company—which has just opened its fourth store in four years with a Twinsburg location—that success is based on a mission to offer people better quality furniture for lower prices.
“The pandemic pushed people to take a hard look around their living spaces and find ways to make them more comfortable and inviting,” says Jason. “Luckily, as soon as it looked like the pandemic was coming our way last year, we bought much more furniture than usual. We stocked our warehouses to the hilt. So now, unlike many furniture stores, there are lots of items you can have immediately. I just had a customer come in and spend $25,000 on a new houseful of furniture and it’ll be delivered within the week. Special-order pieces you’ll have a longer wait for.”
Attached to the main Cleveland Furniture Company warehouse is a new 15,000-squre-foot factory outlet, where the savings are even greater.
“There are always amazing deals, and, in most cases, you can take what you buy home with you that day,” says Jason. “We offer many different brands to fit any budget. And I have to commend our salespeople, who are honest and knowledgeable. These folks are veterans in our industry. They will show you the difference between a $499 sofa and a $1,899 sofa.”
He says they offer extensive lines of 100% leather sofas, chairs and sectionals in stock—the most in Northeast Ohio—and that some of their most popular lines include Flexsteel, Simon Li and Made in Cleveland Mattresses.
“You will find furniture here you won’t find anywhere else,” says Jason, “whether it’s family and living room sofas and sectionals, dining sets, tables, barstools, recliners, bedroom sets, mattresses, and all the accessories to make a room come to life, wall art, lamps, vases and show plants.”
Real Comfort, Quality and Style
Throughout the year, Jason and Paul travel to buy furniture at manufacturer shows from North Carolina and Mississippi to Las Vegas.
“Our goal is not to stay current with the trends,” says Jason. “We want to know what styles will be big a year from now.”
He says that while the modern farmhouse décor isn’t as strong as it was a few years ago, people are still choosing comfort.
“We sell so many deep and cushy sectionals and reclining sofas,” he says. “Families want to cocoon together, hang out and watch movies or games.”
Top-Quality Sleep
“We’ve also noticed more and more people choosing to upgrade their mattresses,” he says. “Our Made in Cleveland line is overbuilt, meaning there’s more pocketed coils, loads of memory foam and edge protection, everything you’d find in more expensive mattresses at a fraction of the cost.”
They are available in every bed size and style, from soft to firm to pillow top.
“The quality is tremendous, and they all come with a 10-year warranty,” he says.
While they prefer people come into their stores to shop—it gives them the chance to sit on a sofa or chair and meet the knowledgeable salespeople—they do their best to make the online shopping experience a richer one. They created a room planner that allows you to easily visualize furniture placement in your rooms to create the most stylish and functional space.
Meet the Furniture Brothers
Over the years, Paul and Jason Cirino have become a beloved Cleveland institution. Featured on local news and talk shows, the brothers are known for spreading their witty and infectious brand of enthusiasm for furniture.
“Since our father, Paul Sr., was also in the furniture business, it’s in our blood,” says Jason.
As soon as the boys were old enough, they ventured into the business themselves, starting a distribution company that supplied other furniture stores throughout the Midwest. Since the brothers buy furniture in bulk, they saw opening their showrooms as the perfect way to save people money and offer better quality furniture than the big box stores.
Today, Paul and Jason still enjoy selling furniture one-on-one with customers in their showrooms, while they manage all the expansion plans.
“Our dad taught us a lot about what to look for in terms of product quality,” Jason says. “But the most important lesson he taught us was how to treat people—with honesty and respect. Your professional reputation is everything, so we take pride in nurturing our relationships with customers. We hold strongly to our core values of hard work and always bringing our best to any task. Our tagline says it all...‘family-owned and Cleveland proud.’ I think if my dad were here today, he’d be pleased.”
