Relieve stress, pain, and more with acupuncture
By Patricia Nugent
Now more than ever, people are more open-minded about exploring new paths to wellness, seeking balance and encouraging optimum energy flow.
Once thought of as an alternative practice, acupuncture is now widely accepted among the medical community, both nationally and here in Akron.
“Clinical research into acupuncture as a medical treatment has grown exponentially over the past 20 years,” says Lisa M. Borchert, M.A. Ed., LPCC, founder of Vivify Wellness at Avenues. “The practice has been shown to reduce pain, stress and anxiety by encouraging the body to release endorphins, otherwise known as the body’s own ‘feel-good’ chemicals. An ancient Chinese medicine-based approach, acupuncture treats a variety of conditions by stimulating specific points on the body by inserting hair-thin metal needles.”
To keep up with demand, Vivify has recently hired a new licensed acupuncturist, Kevin Caputo. He has an interesting background, discovering acupuncture as a child, seeing it heal his father’s chronic ear infections, then, as a year-round athlete, tapping into the science helped give him an edge, strengthen him mentally and physically, and if he did suffer an injury, heal faster, he says.
Kevin is thrilled to be practicing at Vivify. He says he sees modern acupuncture as “a blend of the technology and wisdom of both eastern and western philosophies.”
Some of the specific things he treats include pain, digestive issues, sleep disorders, dizziness, depression, anxiety and stress.
In addition to acupuncture, Vivify offers a host of wellness treatments like massage, reiki, infrared sauna, NeurOptimal brain training and a salt room.
Vivify Wellness at Avenues is located at 843 N. Cleveland-Massillon Road in Fairlawn. Call 330-576-4144, or visit VivifyWellnessatAvenues.com. Any new acupuncture client will receive a free session in Vivify’s Salt Room with the mention of this story, until August 31, 2021.
