While most of the country saw record-high temperatures and stormy weather these past few months, it was a pleasant summer in Northeast Ohio. Heading into winter, our luck may run out. According to the Farmers’ Almanac, we can expect a cold and snowy winter, with plenty of snow, sleet and ice.

“We can’t control the weather outside, but we can help you control the climate inside,” says Mark Staron II, of S&S Heating, Cooling & Sheet Metal, a company his parents, Mark Sr. and Gayle, founded in 1989. “We work with homeowners and business owners to make sure they stay warm during the winter. We help our customers make informed purchases by sorting through the maze of HVAC equipment on the market for them. We offer the best-selling Trane line, along with secondary product lines, to fit everyone’s budget.”

“We install high-efficiency products that use less energy, which results in lower utility bills,” he adds. “With skyrocketing gas and electric bills these past years, homeowners are looking for ways to lower their costs, and that starts with energy-efficient heating and cooling units.”

For those who don’t need a new unit, S&S recommends that all homeowners get a tune-up every fall and spring.

“This is a thorough two-hour service with a 30-plus item checklist,” Mark explains. “Our dedicated staff of certified tune-up technicians doesn’t just look over your unit. The technicians tune, clean, lubricate and make any necessary adjustments to keep your unit running at peak efficiency.”

S&S also offers a Preferred Customer Maintenance Program that can save customers money by extending equipment life, preventing costly repairs and ensuring the equipment is operating safely.

Expert Troubleshooting
In business for more than three decades, this family-owned business has the expertise to troubleshoot any problems.

“We installed a new hot water tank last month and the next day the pilot light went out and there was water on the ground. The homeowner called us to come back to see what was wrong, but when we got there everything was fine,” Mark recalls. “After investigating, we found that there was no cap on the chimney on the roof and after a heavy rainstorm water was coming in and putting out the pilot light and leaking inside. Because we’re a one-stop shop, we were able to add a new chimney cap and lining to alleviate the problem.”

A full-service company, S&S Heating handles everything from heating and cooling to ventilation, refrigeration and hydronics.

Purifying the Air
Once the cool weather rolls in and the windows are shut, homeowners tend to pay more attention to their indoor air quality.

“Though we have been installing air purifiers for over a decade, we are always adding new technology to our offerings,” Mark says. “Investing in the right indoor air quality system is an investment in your health and well-being.”

S&S Heating offers two of the top products. The Trane CleanEffects Air Cleaner reduces contaminants and purifies the air by getting rid of germs, allergens and odors. The Air Scrubber by Aerus attaches directly to your HVAC system ductwork above the coils. This air purifier works automatically when you are running your heating unit, air conditioner or fan.

“Our goal is to help customers stay healthy and comfortable year-round,” Mark says.
