Shaw JCC are helping members establish a path to wellness success

Another year, another fitness plan. Should you join a gym? Invest in the latest workout equipment? Hire a personal trainer? Find a workout class? It’s a decision that seems to come around like clockwork this time of year. But why not make the choice that gives you all those options plus so much more for you and your whole family, all under one roof?

“Now’s a great time to join the Shaw JCC,” Marketing Director Shannon Piggott says. “There’s always something new for every member of the family, and this year we’ve expanded our fitness equipment, classes and training options.”

The JCC now offers the InBody 570 body composition analyzer. InBody is a non-invasive, full-body scan measuring body mass in a matter of seconds.

“The InBody 570 delivers in-depth analysis of your overall health and wellness in just 45 seconds,” Fitness Director Lynn Satow says. “In addition to analyzing muscle mass, fat mass and total body water, this equipment will draw from additional metrics like visceral fat level, segmental fat analysis, and even skeletal mass/bone density while tracking your progress.”

All new members that join in January 2024 receive a complimentary appointment with a personal trainer to consult on fitness goals and develop a plan for success.

“Our experienced personal training team brings a wealth of knowledge to help you achieve your wellness goals,” Lynn says. “All trainers have a minimum of at least one nationally recognized certification and continue to educate themselves on more specific topics. While able to work with all ages and needs, some of us have specific niches of knowledge from which to draw. The focus is always on you.”

Shaw JCC offers more than 60 fitness classes per week along with individual training and even virtual training. Classes include yoga, mind/body, Zumba, spinning, aqua classes, silver sneaker group classes and more.

“And don’t forget the indoor pool for lap swimming,” Shannon says. “The JCC can be everything you want it to be for your family,” Shannon says. Whether it’s fitness, camps for the kids or a place to discover a new hobby or a new friend, that’s what the JCC is all about—family, friendship and your health and well-being.

And kids also love the summer camps at the JCC. It’s never too early to start thinking about summer and camps book up quickly. From traditional day camp to specialty camps including STEAM camp—a traditional STEM camp that now includes art—farm and science camps, arts and crafts, sports camps and musical theater camp, the JCC works hard to cover all interests.
