Armed with a new 3D printer that opens up avenues of treatment, and criss-crossing the country this month to undergo specialized training in its capabilities, Drs. Christopher and Jessica Sinick, of Sinick Family Dental, are continuing their mission to bring next-level dental care to Medina.

“We made the decision to take our practice all-digital to improve the precision and accuracy of every procedure we work with,” says Dr. Christopher. “Our patients have come to expect better-looking, longer-lasting outcomes, shorter treatment duration and a more comfortable overall experience.”

He says they’ll use it for everything from guides to place dental implants to designing crowns, fillings and full-mouth rehabilitation, dentures and even doing bonding that looks exactly like a real tooth.

The courses he is attending this month in South Carolina while she is in Arizona are to master new techniques with the 3D printer, such as veneers.]

Drs. Jessica and Christopher Sinick (pictured with their children) have made it a priority to incorporate the latest dental innovations into their Sinick Family Dental practice. Together they devote a tremendous amount of time to training in current techniques.

“This will allow us to work with a hybrid veneer that goes over teeth without us having to treat the surface before affixing it,” Dr. Jessica explains. “And with the material blend of porcelain and composite, the veneers will keep their bright color longer. In the end, the process for the patient is shorter with better outcomes and lower cost. It’s also a good stopgap for children who need veneers but aren’t fully grown yet and cannot have permanent ones.”

In addition to treatment, the 3-D printer allows the doctors to create ultra-precise night guards and sports guards, perfectly fit to a patient’s dentition.

The On-Site Lab Difference
Joining the 3D printer the Sinicks have all the equipment needed within their on-site lab. They are one of a few dentists in the area to mill their own CEREC same day crowns and have just introduced a new staining technique that exactly matches new teeth to existing ones.

“In terms of quality control and saving time and money, our patients take comfort in knowing nothing is sent out to a lab,” he says. “We have complete control over every step of the treatment process.”

Simplifying, Maximizing Insurance
Much like they practice prevention in their treatment plans, the Sinicks believe in staying ahead of dental insurance issues.

“When a patient first comes to us, we find out about their dental insurance benefits and reach out to their company to pinpoint how much he or she will be covered for specific treatments,” says Dr. Jessica. “Unlike other medical practices, where they might open themselves up to a surprise bill, we do our best to make sure our patients know how much it will cost them before any work is done.”

Dr. Christopher and Dr. Jessica realize insurance policies can be complicated, so their team goes out of its way to break down how much preventive is covered (around 100%) versus treatment (around 80%).

She explains insurance policies can be complicated, so their team goes out of its way to break down how much preventive is covered (around 100%) versus treatment (around 80%). And that the coverage and deductibles are per person, not combined.

Another issue specific to dental insurance most patients don’t know about is they can often choose to go out-of-network and still receive coverage.

“Dental insurance is different than medical insurance. Most times with dental insurance there is little to no difference when you go to an in-network or out-of-network provider,” she adds. “We treat our patients like family and always let them know we have their best interests in mind. No one is treated like a number here.”

For patients who do not have dental insurance, the Sinicks have partnered with Care Credit for up to 12 months interest-free financing. They also accept HSA plans and help patients get the most from those.

Tooth Replacement
While there are many reasons someone may lose a tooth—untreated cavities, gum disease, aging, injuries or genetic factors—there are just as many reasons for your overall dental health to replace one.

“Losing a tooth changes the dynamics of the entire mouth and bite,” says Dr. Jessica Sinick. “The chewing force is thrown off balance. Surrounding teeth will shift to accommodate and usually become damaged. It’s a downward spiral.”

In the end, she explains patients who let missing teeth go end up spending more money to fix the problems they caused than they would have by replacing them.

There are several options for replacement, including bridges, crowns and dental implants. The doctors will go over which procedure is the best fit for you.
