When you are looking for somewhere to go for lunch, you probably don’t think about a grocery store. But Miles Farmers Market is not your typical grocery store. With a focus on locally sourced produce and high-quality meats, poultry and seafood, Miles offers an elevated gastronomic experience—whether you’re shopping for ingredients to cook at home or looking for a meal that is cooked to perfection for you.

“Everything in our bistro is homemade, so it’s like getting a home-cooked meal,” says store manager Justin Golobek. “We cook everything to order, so it’s not as quick as fast food, but not as long as restaurant service. It’s the perfect middle.”

“Every day customers stop in for lunch from nearby hospitals, factories and office buildings,” he says. “Last week we even had a landscaping crew pull into our parking lot on five zero-turn lawn mowers and come in to the store to take a lunch break from a job across the street.”

The bistro inside Miles Farmers Market offers an appreciable menu of lunch items.

“We are always mixing it up and adding something new. We’re excited to roll out a new menu featuring staples plus some new items to try,” Justin says. “Try our new Inferno Burger, with fried jalapenos and lava sauce, and the new Butter Burger, topped with Swiss cheese, grilled onions and garlic butter. In addition to new burger varieties, we also added a Caprese Grilled Chicken Sandwich, with roasted tomato and pesto aioli.”

“We also have lots of cold deli sandwiches, and can warm up our signature Frankie’s Sub that is piled high with freshly sliced lunch meats for a hearty sandwich,” adds Justin. “These are not your regular run-of-the-mill turkey sandwiches, but are rather signature gourmet sandwiches like a funky fig turkey club.”

And it’s not just sandwiches served in the bistro, as you’ll also find homemade crab cakes served with fries and coleslaw on the regular menu, along with seasonal specials such as a shrimp boil or lobster roll on select days.

At the bistro, there are grab-and-go meals that you can bring home in bulk servings to feed a family. Some of the perennial favorites are lasagna, rotisserie chicken, and cabbage and noodles. Next month, the refrigerated case will be full of everything you need for Thanksgiving dinner, including sliced turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans.

A Taste of Fall
Freshly picked apples. Pumpkin-spice muffins. Apple-sausage stuffed pork chops. Mums in a rainbow of autumnal colors.

At Miles Farmers Market, everything is coming up fall.

“Everyone likes to take a trip to local apple orchards in the fall, but we have sourced apples from all over to offer the greatest selection and have more varieties than one apple orchard can grow,” says Justin.

Every day, customers stop in for lunch from nearby hospitals, factories and office buildings.

Miles is chock-full of all things apple, from Dutch apple pies to apple-stuffed sausages, gallons of apple cider, apple-spiced muffins and apple jams.

“It is peak season for apple harvest in Ohio right now,” notes Justin. “We have many varieties, including the Ludacrisp, with a fruity exotic flavor. Another customer favorite is the EverCrisp apple. It is a cross between a Fuji and Honeycrisp that is juicy but dense, so it keeps for a long time.”

In addition to apples, Miles Farmers Market has one of the area’s biggest displays of pumpkins and gourds, along with hardy mums, skirting the front of the store. More than just your typical orange pumpkins, you will find shades of white, yellow, pink and green and some with wart-like growths to add interest. The mounds of pumpkins make a perfect fall backdrop to take selfies or photos of the kids while shopping at the market.
