The folks at Candyapple Nursery & Landscape love fall and are ready to tackle the yard work that comes with it
By Patricia Nugent
It’s official: Fall is America’s favorite season, coming in with a resounding 41 percent of people who pick it as their numero uno time of year. (For the record, spring and summer each received 24 percent of responders’ votes and winter a paltry 11 percent.)
Top reasons for the seasonal devotion include fall foliage, the crisp weather, fall-inspired food and drink (looking at you, pumpkin spice latte) and, of course, football.
Perhaps the only real problem with fall is that it’s fleeting. Peak leaf-peeping color rolls in around mid-October, and by the end of the month, we can already expect our first dusting of snow.
The good news? You still have time to call the folks at Candyapple Nursery & Landscape to help you explore all that’s possible to enjoy the season outdoors.
They are installing custom-built fireplaces, firepits, pizza ovens, paver patios (including natural stone, Unilock and Overfields), ponds and water features, hot tubs, outdoor lighting, outdoor kitchens, gazebos, pavilions, pergolas and fencing.
It seems people are pushing the weather further, investing in drop-down sides to their pavilions, as well as outdoor heating systems that Candyapple can install. One client last year even held her Thanksgiving dinner out in her pavilion, for a different sort of rustic, outdoorsy experience.
Ripe for Planting
Cooler temps and more rain also make fall an ideal time to plant landscaping, shrubs and trees. They’ll still have a nice opportunity to establish their root systems.
Candyapple has you covered with a bountiful stock of trees and shrubs ideally suited for our zone 5, including maple, blue spruce, weeping cherries, birch, arborvitae, Japanese maple and Japanese magnolia, azaleas and roses, just to name a few.
Designers create lush, low-maintenance gardens that bloom throughout the season, so you’ll always have something to look forward to.
And for fall cleanup services, they can make sure everything looks pristine now and stays that way through winter. Crews can provide leaf removal, edging, irrigation systems, mowing and late-season fertilizing to encourage healthy growth.
Looking Ahead to 2024
Heading into the fourth quarter is the perfect time to think about planning to make 2024 the year you finally take the plunge with a beautiful, in-ground pool.
Residential pool installations have skyrocketed in Northeast Ohio, and Candyapple has been one of the largest providers.
In fact, it was booked for its 2023 installations back in 2022. Currently, there are spots available for next summer. If you get on the schedule now, you could be in the swim of things next May or June.
The fiberglass pools come in a wide selection of sizes, shapes and configurations, and also come with a lifetime warranty.
It makes sense to lock into pricing, since who knows what might happen next year?
Lastly, the crews at Candyapple work year-round. With an El Nino climate pattern prediction coming from the Farmers’ Almanac, this winter is expected to be very cold and snowy. Keep them in mind for all your plowing and de-icing of walkways and sidewalks. Having someone else do the backbreaking snow removal gives you time to stay warm and cozy inside with some hot cocoa. Who knows, winter might become your favorite season.
Soaking in the Autumn Splendor
Each fall, Candyapple Nursey brings in a bigger and better array of autumn décor to trick out your home, inside and out.
You can select from every size, shape and blazing color of pumpkin here, from extra large varieties to make a front-door statement, to an array of tinier pumpkins and gourds to arrange artfully along your mantle or dining table.
This year, to blend nicely with any palette, the innovative designers have brought in novel colors, from pink to teal, yellow to black pumpkins in addition to the classic orange and white varieties.
Bountiful mums and asters in every harvest hue, both potted and hanging, are also here. To round out your home’s exterior fall look, don’t forget the straw bales and cornstalks.
