The Hair Specialists offers leading-edge, non-surgical solutions for people with hair loss

Some clients fly in from Texas and Florida while others drive in from a couple hours away to visit The Hair Specialists. Fortunately for Northeast Ohioans, this niche salon is in our own backyard.
Opened 2010 in Hudson, The Hair Specialists helps clients to prevent, regrow and disguise hair loss.
Salon owner Kelly Nemitz is passionate about making clients who have hair loss feel happy and confident again. It is personal for her, as she has struggled with hair loss since birth.
“I was born with no hair and it only started to grow in when I was five years old,” she says. “During my teenage years, my hair was so thin that I weaved in hair extensions and it made me feel gorgeous. From that moment on, I knew I wanted to share that feeling with everyone who struggles with hair loss. That’s why I chose a career in cosmetology.”
“We work with women, men and children no matter what stage of hair loss they’re experiencing,” says Kelly. “We can do hair extensions and clip-on toppers to add fullness, make custom-molded wigs, or camouflage hair loss with powders and sprays. Everything we do results in very natural-looking hair. Our hair extensions are made from 100% human hair and they come in a multitude of colors and textures to match a client’s existing hair. We mimic exactly what’s there but give them more.”
The non-surgical hair replacement salon also sells supplements and serums that help grow hair back naturally.
Offering leading-edge technology, the salon is introducing Capilia early next year to help regrow and prevent hair loss. The hairstylists scope the scalp with a camera to look deep down below the surface into the hair follicles to find out what is going on with a person’s hair and why it may be thinning.
Even though the salon specializes in hair replacement solutions, it doesn’t have a medical feel but instead boasts a chic vibe where rustic meets glam. With six styling stations and two private rooms, the spacious salon is very welcoming.
“Most hair replacement salons are in medical facilities,” says Kelly. “But here our goal is to make people feel like they are going to a regular salon that is very luxurious and pampering.”
All eight hairstylists are trained in hair replacement techniques and work together as a team. “Oftentimes there are two to three stylists working on one client during an appointment,” says Kelly.
The salon, which has an appreciable male clientele, also is well versed in haircutting and hair coloring techniques, as well as Japanese Thermal Reconditioning to remove frizz and curl, resulting in straight, smooth strands of hair.
“Everyone has their own hair story,” says Kelly. “So, whether you have too little, too much, or hair that’s too curly, we provide hair solutions.”
“We offer so many different solutions and consult with each client to customize a plan,” adds Kelly, who is a certified accredited master of the American Hair Loss Council.
The biggest reward for Kelly is seeing people walk into the salon sheepishly but walk out with extra pep in their step.
“Hair loss can be an incredibly emotional experience,” says Kelly. “We understand both the physical and mental aspects and are here to offer support.”
