The talented team members at Shimmer Spa are prepped and ready to help with your fall beauty reboot
By Patricia Nugent
When it comes to natural and organic skincare—and serving up the latest trends in hair, nails and brows, all set within a luxurious spa atmosphere—the ladies at Shimmer Spa have got you covered.
“Our passion lies in extending holistic beauty and wellness well beyond the treatment room, manicure table or pedicure basin,” says founder Melanie Rongone.
Meet the Tenacious Team
Shimmer’s sweet-hearted group of independent beauty professionals sports decades of collective experience in the industry.
Melanie Rongone
This organic skin care guru has spent years learning about chemical and specialty exfoliation. Melanie enjoys working with clients to achieve their best-ever skin through facials, peels, treatments, prevention, good nutrition and high-end skincare products. She loves wowing her clients with results spurred by big and little changes. She also helps people deal with troublesome issues such as acne and rosacea.
Andrea Baon
With 15 years in the industry, Andrea loves bringing out her clients’ best through cuts, color and body waves. She’s also talented at restoring damaged hair and smoothing hair that’s curly or frizzy. One of her most popular treatments is the Awapuhi Wild Ginger Keratin Treatment that restructures the hair’s bonds. She enjoys working with Paul Mitchell and Redken.
Amanda Sroka
Specializing in microblading and hair services, Amanda has 20 years of experience locally. As a true artist, she works with clients to create semi-permanent brows to match an individual’s face shape and hair color. The resulting brows last anywhere from six months to two years, depending on skin type. She enjoys making ladies look more glamorous, awake and youthful, without having to worry about the hassle of putting on eyebrow pencil. Amanda also does facial and body waxing.
Rounding out the staff are Gabrielle who does skin care and nails, and Emery, who does nails.
New Dermaplaning Membership
“We listened to our clients’ wishes and recently kicked off a membership for dermaplaning,” says Melanie. “It’s called the Monthly Glow Membership and includes club pricing on the H2Glow facial which is my specialty facial. This is an indispensable service for people who want gorgeous skin. With a professional implement, we remove not only hair, but also the cells that can build up on the skin’s surface, to renew its appearance. Dermaplaning is actually as relaxing and ultra-soothing as it is clinically effective.”
Since most clients get the service every four weeks, it makes sense to reward them with a monthly membership cost of $85, as the treatment is regularly $95. And once they join, they’re locked in to that pricing going forward.
“Each year when people renew, we give them as many full-size products as years they have in the club,” she adds. “It’s nice to see clients enjoy taking care of themselves with this results-oriented membership.”
The Hottest Hair Trends
When the temps take a dive, it’s time to grab a sweater and think about changing up your fall hairstyle.
“I’d say curtain bangs are one of the hottest trends this fall, slightly longer than other bangs and side-swept,” says Andrea. “Shadow rooting, or root melts, are also a popular look. Shags are on the way back, too.”
When it comes to color, Amanda says her clients are asking for deeper, richer, moodier shades, and that many brunettes are going with a super-ashy shade of mushroom.
Dimensional color is trending now, too, and lots of clients are looking for vivid pops of color.
