While your golf swing may be in mid-season form, your body can’t always keep up.

Just as important as having a golf pro to help perfect your swing, physical therapists and fitness specialists can help you work on your core, balance and strength to address the muscles used for golf—keeping you injury free and giving you a competitive edge.

At Ferrell-Whited Physical Therapy Services and Bedford Fitness, we offer total body conditioning. Our golf fitness program can add more power and stability to your swing by strengthening your shoulder stabilizing muscles such as your rotator cuff muscles, labrum, deltoids, biceps and triceps. And strengthening your forearms can help protect you from elbow injuries.

Your body is constantly being twisted and contorted on varied terrain as you swing through the ball. Standing on one foot and doing various twisting movement patterns while rotating through your hips will help with balance. Strengthening your foot muscles will help stabilize your ankles as you pivot your feet while swinging through the ball. Calf raises and ankle inversion and eversion are great exercises to help improve ankle stability.

Massage is another asset to help lengthen your muscles and get out your knots after a round of golf. A massage will not only make you feel looser, but will also allow you to play another round the next day with less pain and increased mobility.

If you have an injury restricting your golf swing, physical therapy can help you get back in the game.

Call to schedule a session today with our team of a physical therapist, medical exercise specialist and massage therapist to help prevent injuries, get you in shape and massage your tight muscles.
